India’s Jay Meena progressed to the quarterfinals of soft tennis at the Asian Games on Tuesday (September 22, 2026). Jay defeated Pakistan’s Arain Hussain 4-0 in Group D and will face the Philippines’ Sherwin Nuguit in the quarterfinals on Wednesday (September 23, 2026).

Earlier, the Indian women’s team produced a dominant performance against a Sri Lankan side that looked under pressure from the outset. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a superb 79 as India posted a formidable 216/3.

India’s bowlers then took centre stage, delivering a clinical performance to skittle Sri Lanka for just 69. Led by Deepti Sharma, who finished with an economy rate of 1.50, the bowling attack kept Sri Lanka in check throughout as India romped to a 147-run victory.
