Adam Idah claims Celtic transfer was never the end goal as he seals £7m Swansea City switchIdah leaves Parkhead just a year after Brendan Rodgers paid £9million to sign him from Norwich CityAdam Idah signs for Swansea CityAdam Idah has clamied his end goal was always a return to English football after sealing a £7million switch to Swansea City.Celtic pushed the boat out to sign the big Irishman on a permanent basis from Norwich City last summer following a successful loan spell. But despite bagging 20 goals last season, Idah never fully convinced as the main man in the Hoops attack, which was hammered home when Daizen Maeda was given the nod as the central striker following Kyogo's January exit..Now the club have taken a £2million haircut in order to do a deal with the Swans, despite not having a replacement in the building.Idah got the lowdown on the Welsh outfit from assistant boss and former Celtic coach Darren O'Dea and insists a return south of the border was always what he wanted, despite declaring the switch to Parkhead a boyhood dream just last August.“I am really excited about the move, when I heard Swansea were interested and I spoke with the owners, spoke with the manager and to Darren (O’Dea) about the club and the project here going forward it was a no-brainer for me to come here,” he said.“I am really looking forward to getting down to work. There is a real ambition to make the club successful, and I feel the role they want me to take here is a great fit for me.“Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in world football, but for me the end goal is to come back to playing in the English leagues and to try and get back to the Premier League.“The owners were great, they were very clear in what they want for the club. They were brilliant and I hope I can help, and the boys here can help me."Article continues belowTune in to Hotline Live every Sunday to Thursday and have your say on the biggest issues in Scottish football and listen to Record Sport's newest podcast, Game On, every Friday for your sporting fix, all in bitesize chunks. You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
