Alex Eala hits new career-high 40th in WTA official ranking

MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala continues to rise in WTA rankings, posting a new career-high of No. 40 following her solid run in Abu Dhabi Open last week.

According to the latest WTA list released on Monday, Eala jumped five spots from her previous ranking of No. 45.

Eala now has a total of 1,244 points.

Eala is expected to climb even higher after her win in her next tournament — the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.

The 20-year old Filipina netter will face Tereza Valentova of the Czech Republic in the Qatar Open first round at 8 PM on Monday.

Her ranking is poised to get a major boost if she conquers her next tournament — the Qatar Open in Doha.

Eala will face Tereza Valentova of the Czech Republic in the first round of the Qatar Open at 8 p.m. (Manila time) on Monday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. TMT
