Harry Maguire tipped to reach new Man Utd deal, amid fresh contract talks

Harry Maguire is among the most experienced players in the Manchester United dressing room, but he has entered the final eight months of his contract.

From scapegoat to becoming one of Ruben Amorim’s leaders at Manchester United, a lot has been written about Harry Maguire down the years.

Maguire has made seven appearances for United this season, in Amorim’s back three, which tends to consist of Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw.

The 32-year-old centre-back missed out on the latest England squad like three other United players, spreading further doubt about their futures under Thomas Tuchel on the international stage ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

There could be positive news on the horizon for Maguire at United, though.

With Maguire in the final eight months of his contract, United have held talks with the England international about a renewal.

Maguire had a one-year extension in his contract triggered in January before Amorim added him to his new leadership group in the summer, despite being close to leaving United in the past.

It is understood that Maguire currently earns £140,000 per week after his salary was reduced by 25% after United failed to qualify for the Champions League in May 2024.

According to The Sun, Maguire is hopeful of signing a new deal at United before the end of the year.

The report claims United’s director of football negotiations, Matt Hargreaves, has held initial talks with Maguire’s representatives.

Maguire is represented by Triple S Sports, who have a long list of other clients, including James Garner and Jack Butland.

Only time will tell when an agreement will be reached over Maguire’s new contract, but it sounds like everything is in motion for a deal to be concluded this year.

Maguire is one of five players who could leave United for free in 2026.

The others include Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro and Tom Heaton.

United decided to renew Heaton’s contract by one year in the summer to give Amorim extra cover in the goalkeeper ranks.
