Canoe sprint: India’s campaign ends without a medal

India’s canoe sprint campaign came to an end without a medal after Raju Rawat and L Neha Devi finished eighth in the mixed canoe double 500m final in 2:00.891.

Parvathy Geetha and Prasanna Kumar placed ninth in the mixed kayak double 500m final with a time of 1:53.994.

Athletics: Tejaswin Shankar falls to third after shot put

India’s Tejaswin Shankar finished fifth in the shot put with a best effort of 13.16m, earning 677 points. His compatriot Thowfeeq Noushad placed 12th with 10.76m for 531 points.

After three events, Tejaswin fell to third overall with 2484 points and Thowfeeq is ninth with 2290 points.

Fencing: India’s men’s sabre, women’s foil teams exit in quarter-finals

India’s men’s sabre team lost 45-25 to South Korea, while the women’s foil team went down 45-14 to Japan in the quarter-finals, bringing an end to the country’s challenge in both team events.

Athletics: Animesh Kujur cruises into 200m semi-finals

India’s national record-holder Animesh Kujur won his men’s 200m heat in 21.10 to comfortably advance to the semi-finals, finishing eighth overall.

Animesh Kujur will return to the track at 4:54 PM for the semi-finals.

Shooting: India win silver medal in women’s 50m rifle 3 positions

India’s Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod and Ashi Chouksey won silver in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event with a score of 1763-90x.

Tilottama Sen finished third with 590-32x and Vidarsa Vinod sixth with 588-29x to qualify for the individual final, while Ashi Chouksey placed 15th with 585-29x.

The women’s 50m rifle 3 positions will start at 9:30 AM.

Archery: Dhiraj, Chikitha top recurve and compound qualification rounds

India’s Dhiraj Bommadevara topped the men’s recurve qualification round with an Asian Games record 698 points, while Neeraj Chauhan and Yashdeep Bhogal finished 20th and 25th with 676 and 665, respectively. The Indian team placed second with 2039.

In women’s compound, Chikitha Taniparthi led the field with 705 points, with Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Poornima finishing 12th and 20th on 699 and 695 points. India’s team finished second with 2099 points.

Esports: Paritosh bows out in Puyo Puyo Tetris quarter-finals

India’s Paritosh was knocked out in the Puyo Puyo Tetris quarter-finals after losing 5-0 to South Korea’s Dongshin Kang.

He had earlier finished third in Group B with two win and as many losses.

India’s men’s sabre team defeated the Philippines 45-27 in the Round of 16 to advance to the quarter-finals.

They will return to action at 8:00 AM for their quarter-final against the Republic of Korea.

Table tennis: Yashaswini Ghorpade exits women’s singles in Round of 16

India’s Yashaswini Ghorpade’s women’s singles campaign came to an end in the Round of 16 after losing 4-1 to Japan’s world No. 3 Miwa Harimoto.

Yashaswini took the third game 11-4 after dropping the first two, but Harimoto closed out the match 11-9, 11-5, 4-11, 11-4, 11-5.

Badminton: Lakshya Sen knocked out in men’s singles first round

India’s Lakshya Sen was knocked out in the first round of the men’s singles after losing 2-1 (21-12, 15-21, 21-14) to former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore.

Lakshya Sen forced a decider after dropping the opening game, but could not build on his momentum as Loh Kean Yew regained control to close out the contest comfortably.

India’s Parvathy Geetha and Prasanna Kumar advanced to the mixed kayak doubles 500m final after finishing second with a time of 1:53.031 in their semi-final.

Meanwhile, Harshwardhan Shaktawat finished fourth in his men’s kayak single 500m semi-final after clocking 1:50.543 and narrowly missed out on a spot in Final A.

Fencing: India advance to women’s foil team quarter-finals

The Indian women’s foil team defeated Indonesia 45-24 in the opening round to advance to the quarter-finals.

India will face Japan in the quarter-finals at 8:00 AM.

Athletics: Sawan Barwal wins marathon silver medal, ends India’s 44-year wait

India’s Sawan Barwal won the silver medal in the men’s marathon in a national record and personal-best time of 2:11:37.

Japan’s Ichitaka Yamashita won gold in 2:10:49, while the People’s Republic of China’s Peiyou Feng took bronze in 2:12:13. Barwal’s medal is India’s first in the marathon since Hosur Kukkappa Seetharan won bronze at the 1982 Asian Games, ending a 44-year wait.

Kartik Karkera, the other Indian marathoner, finished 17th with a time of 2:22:41.
