Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season kicks off tonight as the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions star in what should be a "Thursday Night Football" matchup for the ages.

Though both teams entered the year with plenty of hype, they're entering Week 2 with vastly different momentum coming off their respective season openers. Josh Allen and the Bills came up clutch in a Sunday afternoon thriller against the Texans, walking away with a 36-31 win thanks to a 96-yard drive to take the lead on an Allen-to-Joshua-Palmer touchdown with 1:36 remaining in the fourth. Buffalo's defense closed it out, forcing C.J. Stroud's second lost fumble of the day — an all-around effort.

The Lions appeared to be on track for dominance in Week 1, entering the game as 7-point favorites over the New Orleans Saints before getting off to an early 21-0 lead. Things fell apart quickly for the Lions' defense in the second half, however, allowing the Tyler Shough-led Saints to tie it up to force overtime.

The Lions scored a touchdown to open OT, and the Saints responded with a score of their own. But the Saints' failed 2-point conversion after the touchdown gave Detroit the surprisingly hard-fought win, giving the Lions plenty to consider when shaping their game plan against Allen & Co.
