Danica Patrick visits Te Arai Links after Aaron Rodgers’ podcast remarks

The trip has a personal connection to the former couple. The Daily Mail reported that Patrick and Rodgers visited New Zealand together in 2019, and shared photos of themselves kayaking, taking a helicopter tour and bungy jumping.

While Patrick holidayed in New Zealand with her friends, her ex-boyfriend brought her into headlines around the world for a different reason.

Rodgers made angry comments about Patrick on the Not Just Football podcast, rejecting comments she had made about their break-up.

According to the Daily Mail, Rodgers disputed Patrick’s characterisation of the relationship and said claims that he had been a poor partner were “horses***”.

Rodgers went on to accuse Patrick and another ex of using his name for clout.

“No one cares what they have to say until they say my name,” he said. “I dated two women who nobody gives a f*** about unless they drop my name – and they like to say their version of the history of what actually happened.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback told the podcast that he and Patrick attended counselling before separating, and disputed her account of how the relationship ended.

The pair began dating in 2018 and split in 2020. The relationship attracted significant public attention as they appeared together regularly at sporting and entertainment events.

Rodgers’ comments follow Patrick’s remarks in an interview last year with broadcaster Sage Steele, in which she described the break-up as one of the most painful experiences of her life. She alleged the relationship was “emotionally abusive” and said it “wore me down to nothing”.

Rodgers’ latest comments represent his most direct public response to those claims.

While the dispute has returned the former couple to the headlines, Patrick’s social media posts have focused on her time in New Zealand.

She did not address the renewed public disagreement in the holiday posts, which instead highlighted golf, sightseeing and time spent with friends.
