Asian Games 2026 Day 4 Live updates: Day 4 of the Asian Games is here, and India will be hoping for another strong day after a promising start to the competition. The Indian contingent has won six medals so far, with four of them coming on Day 3, giving the campaign some early momentum. There is plenty to look forward to today, with athletes in shooting, fencing, boxing, karate, wushu, badminton and equestrian among those in action. India’s women’s cricket team will also take on Sri Lanka in the final, while the men’s hockey team faces Sri Lanka later in the day. India opt to bat first in gold medal match!

India women's team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur wins the toss and elects to bat first against Sri Lanka women in the gold match finale. (Follow Live Updates here)

India face early jolt in South Korea clash

Harmeet Desai lost to Jang Woojin 3-1 in the opening tie. Manush Shah is up against Oh Jungsung in the second tie, where he leads two-games-to-one (4-11, 11-8, 13-11).

Aryan Thakur wins in Soft Tennis!

Aryan Thakur got the better of Mongolia's Bold-erdene Altangerel with a 4-0 (4-1, 4-1, 4-0, 4-1) win in the Group C contest in men's singles Soft Tennis. He will next clash against Chen Po-yi of Chinese Taipei.

India eke out a draw

The pair of Chinmay Sahoo and Shakeel Patel hold Uzbekistan to a 0-0 draw in Group F clash in eFootball (Esports). India will face Mongolia later in the day at 2pm.

Tanvi Sharma loses as India miss out on medal!

A disappointing outing for Tanvi Sharma as she struggled against Nozomi Okuhara and went down in straight games, 12-21, 10-21. It is Tanvi's third defeat to Okuhara in as many meetings. With PV Sindhu and Unnati Hooda also losing earlier, India have missed out on a medal in the women's badminton team event.

Having boxed all her senior career in 54kg, moving to the 51kg category wasn’t an easy choice for boxer Sakshi Chaudhary. The lowest Olympic weight class in India is stacked — there’s two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen, 48kg world champion Minkashi Hooda, and former CWG and world champion Nitu Ghanghas. In the selection trials for Asian and Commonwealth Games, Sakshi stunned Nikhat 4-1 in the semi-final before beating Minakshi — who had beaten Nitu in her semi-final — 5-0 in the decider. Following her gold in Glasgow CWG, she is now gunning for her first Asian Games medal. Disappointing update in Karate

Asian Championship winner Alisha Choudhary loses in the women's Kumite 55kg round of 16 tie against Cok Istri Agung Sanistyarani of Indonesia by a margin of 6-1. The Indian was never in the contest with the opponent, earning a Yuko and an Ippon early on, before a warning for Alisha handed Cok a Senshu.

Tanvi struggles vs Okuhara!

Tanvi Sharma has struggled to find her rhythm against Nozomi Okuhara, losing the opening game 12-21. India are now staring at elimination and Tanvi needs to respond quickly by taking the second game to keep their medal hopes alive.

Yashaswini stars in India's win in TT!

The Indian women's table tennis team has somehow found ways to dig in and carve out wins. The latest, a 3-2 win against Thailand in the knockouts, takes them to the quarter-finals and puts them one step away from a medal. India were 1-0 down against Thailand, then 1-2 down, before Sreeja Akula stood up in the deciding match. The star of the show, however, was Yashaswini Ghorpade, who won both her matches. She also made the difference in the group game against Singapore, which India edged out 3-2. Next up for the women is North Korea in the last eight, at 3.50pm IST. A tricky opponent, for their players don't compete on the WTT tour.

Sreeja Akula completes India's comeback, winning the fourth game 11-8 against Suthasini Sawettabut. After losing the opening game, Sreeja won three in a row to seal the match and send India through to the women's team quarterfinals.

Treesa, Gayatri keep India alive in badminton team event!

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have kept India's hopes alive in the women's team badminton quarterfinal, defeating Japan's Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto 21-17, 21-16 in the third match. India continue to fight in the team tie. It is Treesa and Gayatri's first win against the world No.3 pair

While Yuki is a three-time World Championships silver medallist (with Sayaka Hirota), Mayu is a two-time world champion (with Wakana Nagahara). She has also won two bronze medals with Wakana.

Sreeja Akula loses the opening game of the final match to Suthasini Sawettabut, putting India under further pressure. Sreeja now needs to bounce back in the next game as India look to keep their hopes alive.

India in men's TT team also in action

The Indian team, comprising Harmeet Desai, Sathiyan G, Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah and Payas Jain are up against South Korea in a tough Round 1 clash in men's Team TT. Harmeet starts the proceedings for India, against Jang Woojin, and has taken the first game as well.

Yashaswini takes it to fifth match in women's TT!

Yashaswini Ghorpade has taken the fourth game 11-9 against Orawan Paranang, forcing the tie into a fifth and deciding game. India now need one more game to seal their place in the final.

Double Kazakh challenge up ahead in Fencing

Sachin won three of his men's foil individual Pool 5 ties to advance to the knockout stage. He will be up against Kazakh Semyonov Timofey in round of 32. Compatriot Sanasam Hemash Singh is also through to the next round, where he will take on Kazakh Nurumov Galim. Sanasam also won three of his five group ties to advance to the knockouts.

Yashaswini Ghorpade has taken a strong 2-0 lead over Orawan Paranang, winning the opening two games 11-5, 11-8 in the fourth tie against Thailand. India are pushing to strengthen their position in the contest.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have won the first game against the Japanese pair. Can they pull things back for India? It will need a massive effort from the Indian contingent to come from 0-2 down to win the contest

India beat South Korea in Kabaddi!

A commanding performance from the Indian men's team handed them a 63-31 win over South Korea in their second match at the Asian Games. The raiding was impressive, but there were many questions asked of the Indian defence in this match. And they will need to do better before they take on Iran in the latter stages of the competition.

India men's 4x100m medley relay qualify for final!

Rishabh Das, Akash Mani, Benediction Beniston and Dhanush Suresh finish fourth in men's 4x100m medley relay heats, as they made it to the final while finishing seventh.

India lose to Malaysia

This has been a trashing for India. They lose 11-15, 5-15 in the third match in men's regu group B in sepaktakraw.

Elavenil, Parth eliminated!

Elavenil Valarivan and Parth Mane have missed out on a medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team event after finishing fourth in the final with 376.3 points. The Indian pair stayed in contention until the final stages but were eventually eliminated, ending their campaign just outside the podium places.
