Chelsea star Mudryk wanted by three Premier League clubs including Lampard's Coventry after drugs ban ended early

CHELSEA have been approached by a number of clubs over a deal for Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Blues winger, 25, is free to play football again after the FA and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) resolved their disciplinary process against him following an appeal, with his four year ban ending early.

Mudryk has joined Xabi Alonso‘s squad in Hong Kong for their pre-season tour.

He was swarmed by fans at the airport after he touched down on Monday.

While Alonso is excited to have the chance to work with the Ukraine international, who he called a “special player”, no final decision has been made on whether the winger will stay with the club or not.

Coventry, managed by former Blues boss Frank Lampard, are one of the clubs to have expressed an interest should Mudryk move.

The winger made eight appearances under Lampard during his second stint as Blues boss.

Two more Premier League clubs are thought to have enquired, while there is interest from a further three clubs in Europe.

Mudryk has been training alone and away from Chelsea since December 2024, having been found to have tested positive for meldonium, a prohibited substance since 2016, in October that year.

The £62million winger has always maintained he never knowingly used the substance, which can increase endurance in athletes.

A change to WADA’s testing processes means that, had Mudryk’s 2024 sample been examined today it would never have been reported as a breach.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man, who joined Chelsea in January 2023, flew to Hong Kong over the weekend alongside new signing Danny Welbeck.

Both Chelsea and Alonso are happy to allow Mudryk the time needed to settle into training alongside teammates once again before making any decision.

He has been told that all options, staying with the squad, a loan or a sale, are on the table after his return – with no rush to make a decision.
