T20 games in Lisburn called off after Belfast unrest

Cricket Ireland has confirmed this week's Inter-Provincial T20 Festival in Lisburn has been called off following a night of disorder in Belfast on Tuesday.

The three-game series featuring Northern Knights, North West Warriors and Leinster Lightning was scheduled to take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

In a statement released on Wednesday afternoon, Cricket Ireland said the games would not "proceed as planned due to external factors".

"The safety and security of our players, coaches and match officials is our most important priority," it added.

"We will provide further updates as they become available."

People were forced to flee their homes in Belfast amid disorder following a knife attack.

Houses and cars were set on fire and all public transport has been paused in the city.
