UC Davis Men’s Tennis Wraps Home Match, Heads on the Road

DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis men's tennis team (9-9) narrowly fell to UC Irvine (9-6), 4-3, on Tuesday, April 1, at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Aggies secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The match began on March 31 and was completed April 1 following a weather delay.

HOW IT HAPPENED

UC Davis claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. UC Irvine responded with straight-set victories on courts six and three to take a 2-1 lead. The Aggies answered with wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles to move back in front, 3-2. UC Irvine evened the match at 3-3 with a three-set win on court five. After a weather delay, the match was decided at No. 1 singles, where UC Irvine's Hiroki Sakagawa rallied for a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win to clinch the 4-3 result.
