Esmir Bajraktarevic is live Rangers transfer option as PSV star turns heads amid Bouanani pursuit

Bajraktarevic is a player who Rangers remain in dialogue with despite the pursuit of the £13m Stuttgart man

Bosnian World Cup star Esmir Bajraktarevic is another deadline day option that Rangers have on the go.

Record Sport revealed Stuttgart’s Badredine Bouanani was having a medical ahead of a potential loan. The Ibrox side still have a number of other plates spinning.

It is expected that if Bouanani passes his Ibrox medical that the winger will join on-loan with a future option-to-buy. Fellow winger Bajraktarevic is a player who Rangers remain in dialogue with. The PSV Eindhoven star is one that Dan Purdy has done extensive work on and remains an options.

A Rangers source revealed: “He’s one of a few we are talking to.” Bajraktarevic has 20 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina, having made the switch from USA. PSV Eindhoven signed him from New England Revolution last year.

Bajraktaveric is primarily a right winger but can play on either side or through the middle. He has had limited game time with PSV this season, so far.

Rangers, ironically, pulled out of a deal for his PSV teammate Couhaib Driouech last month. They pulled out a deal for the winger over a medical issue.

That hasn’t soured relations as Purdy and PSV chief executive Marcel Brands have a close relationship from their time together at Everton. Record Sport also broke the story that Kevin Kelsy was the top striking target for Rangers.

The £9 million deal to sign the striker from Portland Timbers has been agreed. The Venezuelian international has also passed his medical. Rangers are just waiting from the home office for his work permit to complete the signing.
