Mo Salah jets back to Liverpool as wife gives birth to third child with name revealed

Mohamed Salah has found himself back in Liverpool, where his wife gave birth to their third child - and their first son - as his name was showcased on social media

Mohamed Salah has flown back to the UK after his wife gave birth to their first son. The Liverpool icon left Merseyside in the summer after the two parties agreed to terminate his deal, but it was in the north west that his wife is reported to have given birth.

Salah's sister Rabab has taken to social media to reveal that the couple had welcomed a son, who will be named Leil. The name translates to “night” in Arabic.

The 34-year-old is now plying his trade in Turkey after opting to join Trabzonspor, and the club's president Ertugrul Dogan has revealed that Salah and another former Premier League star in Andre Onana have both seen their families grow.

He said on 61saat: "After the (Amed SK) match, I travelled abroad with Salah and Andre Onana. Both of them had new children, Onana had twins and Salah a baby boy. I congratulate their families and their wives.”

Magi is Salah's childhood sweetheart and they both grew up in their hometown of Nagrig. She later trained as a biotechnician with the pair marrying in 2013. Prior to their son arriving they had two daughters - Makka, their eldest, was born in 2014, and her sister Kayan arrived in 2020.

Salah and his family had spent almost a decade in Liverpool and had planned to remain for another year but the two-year deal, which the Egyptian signed in 2025, was ripped up 12 months early. Salah though has stated the love he and his family have for the city.

He previously said: “They feel at home [here]. They were very happy, [wife] Magi and the kids, they were very happy that we're staying another two years. It feels like home so everyone was happy.”

Salah's time in Turkey has already seen the sudden departure of head coach Fatih Tekke from Trabzonspor, which follows the 5-0 aggregate defeat at the hands of Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the Europa League play-offs.

In light of that loss Salah said in a statement on social media: "Nothing in my career ever came easy. Bad nights and disappointments are part of football, and I have learned to turn them into motivation and into trophies. Trabzonspor is my club, and I am part of this project, body and soul. Last night will not change that. I know expectations are high, and I truly believe we can and will deliver. “I came here to win” is not just a slogan to me."
