England were taking on the South Americans in Buenos Aires, looking to round off their first phase with a win, following on from their comprehensive triumph over Fiji last time out.

News surrounding Argentina and England dominated the headlines with the two nations locking horns in both football and rugby. The World Cup showdown in Atlanta took centre stage with the Three Lions looking to move closer to ending their 60 years of hurt, until a second-half capitulation allowed Argentina to complete the comeback.

The history off the pitch took centre stage with Argentina celebrating their triumph by displaying a 'Las Malvinas son Argentinas' flag following their 2-1 victory. The banner translates as 'The Falklands are Argentine' bringing the Falklands Islands debate to the surface after the 1982 war.
