TULSA, Okla. — Charlotte Women's Tennis will arrive home from the American Conference Individual Championships with some new hardware as Ni Xi claimed the Women's Singles title without dropping a set. Xi, alongside doubles partner Sara Suchankova, also made it to the finals in the Women's Doubles draw.

SINGLES RECAP

Ni Xi (6 Seed) and Sara Suchankova (5 Seed) competed in the Women's Singles draw, where both Niners earned a bye to the round of 16. In the round of 16, Suchankova faced off against Tulsa's Tayla Wilmot, defeating her 6-3, 6-0, and Xi faced off against UNT's Carolina Laydner, defeating her 6-1, 6-1.

In the quarter finals, Xi continued to roll on, defeating Memphis' Sofiia Mykhailets 6-1, 6-4. Suchankova's singles run ended in the quarters, where she fell to three third-seeded Giorgia Roselli in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.

In the semis, Xi once again asserted her dominance on the court by taking down the number one-seeded Xin Tong Wang from Wichita State, 6-2, 6-3, to earn her spot in the finals, where she faced Roselli, once again prevailing in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.

"Really impressive week here in Tulsa capped off by one of the best singles performances I've seen as a college coach," said Charlotte Women's Tennis Head Coach Anthony Davison. "Ni was extremely composed and executed her game plan perfectly. She's grown a lot recently in terms of being thoughtful and structuring points, and it's really showing, especially in big moments."

With the title this weekend, Xi has also qualified for the ITA Conference Masters set to take place November 6-9 in San Diego, Calif.

DOUBLES RECAP

Xi and Suchankova also competed in the Women's Doubles draw as the third seed. Once again, the Niners earned a bye to the Quarterfinals, where Xi and Suchankova took down East Carolina's Kim Auerswald and Reese Calvo 8-6 (Round of 16 and Quarterfinals were played as 8-Game Pro-Sets).

In the Semis, Xi and Suchankova continued to roll on, defeating the two seeded Emma Dvoracek and Clemence Thouard from Memphis, 6-3, 3-6, [10] - [5] to book their ticket to the finals.

In the finals, Xi and Suchankova fell just short, losing to the number one-seeded pair of Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli from Wichita State, 4-6, 4-6.

"We're disappointed to lose the doubles but proud of the effort - credit to the Wichita State team who fought extremely hard in crucial moments to beat us," said Coach Davison. "Lots of great signs from Ni and Sara as a team, and I can't wait to see more from them."
