It said Raus will head an independent committee probing the matter, reiterating that the panel will not be composed of any individual from FAM to ensure fairness and transparency.The association said Raus will choose the remaining members of the committee.“Based on his extensive experience and credibility, the FAM hopes Raus and the other members of the committee will conduct a thorough and holistic investigation,” it said in a statement.Raus served as chief justice from 2017 to 2018, resigning from the post not long after Pakatan Harapan came to power following the 2018 general election.Last year, he was appointed to head a royal commission of inquiry to look into matters related to the sovereignty of Batu Puteh, Middle Rocks and South Ledge.Fifa had fined FAM 350,000 Swiss francs (about RM1.8 million) and suspended the seven players for 12 months after finding that documents submitted to confirm their eligibility contained false information.The world football body is expected to decide on FAM’s appeal by Oct 30.FAM has since suspended its general secretary, Noor Azman Rahman, over the issue.
