Davide Frattesi is staying with Inter after strong Forest links and the Reds are running out of time to get a deal done.

Forest head coach Sean Dyche will want his squad to be improved in the coming hours as he looks to keep the Reds in the division this season.

Nottingham Forest have bid rejected for Hayden Hackney

The Reds are upping the ante for new players this month and have entered the race for Hackney.

The Middlesbrough midfielder has been targeted by a host of football clubs but Forest have been given a resounding no from the EFL promotion chasers.

Sky Sports News broke this latest update exclusively just moments ago and it’s more frustrating news for Forest.

It was claimed live on air: “We have got some exclusive breaking news actually come to us a few seconds ago and it involves Nottingham Forest.

“They’ve had an approach for Hayden Hackney rejected by Middlesbrough. Middlesbrough don’t want to sell the midfielder so late in this window.

“Hackney’s got 18 months left on his contract. And remember, Boro are fighting very hard for promotion to the Premier League.”

Forest running out of time to get midfielder sorted

The Reds might have to really dig deep at this late stage if they’re to get a midfielder over the line and beat the deadline.

Forest going for Hackney at this late stage was never likely to wash with Boro owner Steve Gibson with next to no time at all to sign a replacement.

Hackney was called ‘excellent’ by former Boro boss Rob Edwards and has scored five goals and registered six assists from 32 appearances this season.

Hackney looks like being a future Premier League player but in the short term it looks as though he will remain at the Riverside Stadium with Forest being thwarted once again.
