SRH vs KKR Match Prediction & Analysis

Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 45 of IPL 2026 in Hyderabad. SRH did not begin well, losing three of their first four matches, but they have turned things around in style with five wins in a row. That run has pushed them up to third place on the table, with an NRR of 0.832.

KKR, meanwhile, find themselves in the lower half and are hanging on. After a poor start to the season, they have managed to recover with back-to-back wins but are still eighth on the table with five points from eight matches and an NRR of -0.751.

This makes the upcoming clash very important for Kolkata as they look to add another win and move up the standings. Facing SRH at Uppal is a tough challenge, more so with the home side coming in on a five-match winning streak.

SRH will aim to extend that run to six wins in a row, while KKR need a strong reply to stay in the race. Recent form gives SRH the edge in this contest.

TEAMS PREVIEW

Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a poor start to the season, winning just one of their first four matches. Since then, things have changed completely, as they have now won five games in a row. That run has pushed them up to third on the table with an NRR of 0.832. In their latest outing, they beat Mumbai Indians by five wickets, chasing down a huge 244 in only 18.4 overs, which is now the highest successful chase in T20 cricket.

SRH are looking better with each match. Their batting has been their biggest strength, as they have crossed 200 with ease and have also shown they can chase big targets without much trouble, as they did in the last game. With captain Pat Cummins back in the side, the bowling unit also looks more settled now.

One of the biggest positives has been Travis Head getting back into form after a quiet start. He played a match-winning knock of 76 off 30 balls in the last game against MI. Head and Abhishek Sharma form one of the most dangerous opening pairs in the competition. Abhishek has been in outstanding touch, scoring 425 runs in nine games at a strike rate of 210. When Head and Abhishek get going early, as they have done several times, it gives SRH a strong base in the powerplay to aim for big totals.

Ishan Kishan has also been among the runs, scoring 312 at a strike rate of 197, including 16 sixes and 35 fours. He is averaging close to 70 this season.

Heinrich Klaasen has played an important role in the middle-order, scoring 414 runs in nine matches at an average close to 60 and a strike rate of 157. He is coming off a solid 65 not out from 30 balls against MI.

The middle-order also has players like Salil Arora, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Aniket Verma, who can add quick 15–20 runs late in the innings.

The bowling unit has improved with Cummins back, and he has bowled tight spells in both his games so far. He will look to attack KKR’s top-order, including Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

Eshan Malinga has also been excellent, taking 15 wickets at an average of 9.16 and bowling well at the death. New pacers Sakib Hussain and Praful Hinge have added more options.

Their spinners, Harsh Dubey and Shivang Kumar, are not just useful with the ball but can also contribute with the bat. Both are capable of adding handy runs when needed. Nitish Kumar Reddy is also bowling well at the moment and gives them another option. This adds depth to both their batting and bowling, making the side more flexible in different situations.

Interesting Facts:

* Abhishek Sharma has smashed 31 sixes and 40 fours so far.

* Heinrich Klaasen has a strike rate of 18 versus spinners in the IPL, with 63 sixes and 43 boundaries in 50 innings.

* In two games on the trot, SRH have chased targets in excess of 225.

Key Players: Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins

Sunrisers Hyderabad Predicted Playing XI:

Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan(w), Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins(c), Harsh Dubey, Sakib Hussain, Praful Hinge, Eshan Malinga Impact subs: Aniket Verma, Liam Livingstone

Kolkata Knight Riders Preview

Kolkata Knight Riders have managed to move up the table to eight after back-to-back wins. Their season began on a poor note with five losses in the first six games, but narrow wins against Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants have given them some breathing space. The question now is whether this run can push them forward. The reality is that even in those wins, KKR did not look convincing as a side and relied on a few players to get them through. If they want a top-four finish, they need a proper team effort.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been the standout batter so far, scoring 209 runs from eight innings at a strike rate of 141. That said, he has not made much impact in the last few matches and looks due for a bigger knock.

The bigger concern is the rest of the batting unit, which has been inconsistent. Captain Ajinkya Rahane has struggled in recent games and has not looked settled. Tim Seifert has started well in a few innings but has not been able to carry on after hitting a couple of boundaries.

Cameron Green has shown flashes but needs to spend more time at the crease to support the middle order. One positive is Rinku Singh, who has returned to form with back-to-back fifties – 83 not out off 51 against LSG and 53 not out off 34 against RR. If he can deliver again, KKR will feel more confident.

Vaibhav Arora and Kartik Tyagi lead the wickets tally with nine each, though both have gone at over nine an over. Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Anukul Roy offer spin options, but the Uppal pitch tends to be flat. Narine, with his control, could be the one who has an impact here.

Interesting Facts:

* Sunil Narine has an economy rate of 6.84 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

* Cameron Green’s strike rate of 153 is the best by any KKR batter this season.

* KKR have managed a score of over 200 only once this season – in their season opener against MI.

Key Players: Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh

Kolkata Knight Riders Predicted Playing XI:

Ajinkya Rahane(c), Tim Seifert(w), Cameron Green, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rovman Powell, Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Ramandeep Singh, Anukul Roy, Vaibhav Arora, Kartik Tyagi Impact Subs: Varun Chakravarthy, Manish Pandey

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

Weather Conditions

Hot and dry conditions are expected in Hyderabad, with plenty of sunshine through the afternoon and temperatures hovering in the mid-to-high 30s°C range. There is little to no chance of rain, and light winds should keep conditions largely stable, though the heat could be a factor during the game.

SRH vs KKR Pitch Report

The average first innings score at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, in IPL 2026 is 202. In four matches played here so far, there have been two 200-plus totals, with the highest being 242-2 by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Overall, the conditions here favour batting, and it tends to get easier once the lights come on. The intense heat in the first half will make it tough on the fast bowlers to deliver.

Spinners can get some assistance in the middle overs but will need to be accurate with their lines. Fast bowlers, on the other hand, will depend more on slower balls and cutters to keep things under control.

If KKR bat first, they would look at a score in the 190-200 range if their top order gets going. If that does not happen, they might have to settle for around 180–190. SRH, given their current batting form, will aim higher and could push for something in the 215–230 range.

Toss: To Bat

Chasing has been the dominant trend in IPL 2026, with over 90% of the games seeing the toss-winning captain choosing to field first. SRH have made Uppal a fortress when they bat first, regularly posting scores that are hard to chase. So, if KKR win the toss, they may actually opt to bat and set a target, putting pressure on the hosts. SRH, though, would also prefer to bat first in a day-night game, since their bowlers would have to deal with tough afternoon conditions. On top of that, they are a side that thrives when setting totals, so batting first would be the natural choice for them.
