'Can't be long before Chelsea find a breakthrough'

Chelsea 0-0 Paris FC

Chelsea are right on top of this backline of Paris. It seems like all the play has been in this final third.

I don't know how long this can last for them before Chelsea find the breakthrough. It's dangerous.

'Beever-Jones doesn't connect with it'

Wonderful move down the right. Great combination play, and Aggie Beever-Jones doesn't connect with it well.

I'm sure she'll get more chances if it stays the way it is.

Alyssa Thompson, who is making her first appearance at Stamford Bridge tonight, tries to link up with Aggie Beever-Jones but her pass is overhit and Paris clear.

Beever-Jones then gets her first sight of goal after a Sjoeke Nusken cut back but she rolls the finish straight at Mylene Chavas.

Chelsea 0-0 Paris FC

After rallying cries from boss Sonia Bompastor and skipper Millie Bright pre-match, Chelsea have started with plenty of purpose here.

Paris FC have been pinned in their own defensive third for most of the opening seven or so minutes.

'Nusken wants to prove her worth'

It was a fair effort just on the half-turn by Sjoeke Nusken. The keeper did know her bearings.

I feel like Nusken hasn't played too many minutes this season and will use this to prove her worth.

Chelsea 0-0 Paris FC

We were a little confused when we saw the Chelsea lineup, as it seemed to list Sjoeke Nusken as a stand-in right back.

The German attacking midfielder has indeed started out there though in the absence of Lucy Bronze, who's on the bench, and Ellie Carpenter.

'Chelsea look more dynamic'

Against Tottenham, for me, was the most dynamic I've seen Chelsea this year.

They looked a lot more dynamic, and hopefully they can take that from this game and into this game.

Once they find their rhythm and they get Lauren James back, I think you'll see an increase in those goals going in.

The teams have just emerged from the tunnel at Stamford Bridge with only a few minutes to go before kick off.

Will we see Chelsea get their first win of the 2025-26 Champions League campaign or can Paris FC create a second update in as many weeks for the Blues?

"We need to be clinical and not give them hope'

Chelsea v Paris FC (20:00 BST)

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor, speaking on Disney+: "I want to see the performance we put in the weekend against Tottenham with the desire to win. I think from that performance, we have bigger chances to win tonight if we are able to produce the same level and same quality. The only thing now we need to make sure we are doing better in the game, being clinical in the box, scoring goals from the beginning of the game to kill the opposition hope.

"We are playing a home game with the result we got last week, we were disappointed, so really important game today, and I think we need to win."

Lyon and Wolfsburg lead the early standings

Record winners Lyon and two-time winners Wolfsburg lead the way in the early stages of the new league phase with two wins from two.

Lyon romped 3-0 past St Polten, who have now lost two from two, while Wolfsburg needed a 98th minute penalty to see off Valerenga, who have also lost their first two fixtures.

Last year's beaten finalists Barcelona may yet end the night top of the pile, they're away at Roma in the other 8pm game.

'Get the mistakes out of our system'

Chelsea v Paris FC (20:00 BST)

Paris FC

Paris FC boss Sandrine Soubeyrand has urged her team to shake off the mistakes made on matchday one that ultimately cost them a winning start in the Champions League.

"Last week [against OH Leuven], we put in a good performance but we need to show that we can get the mistakes we made out of our system, said Soubeyrand in her pre-match press conference.

The Parisians were 2-0 up and comfortable at half time before being made to settle for a point after Leuven scored twice in the second half.

Soubeyrand added, "We know very well the depth that Chelsea have, especially in attack but all over the pitch, really. We’re going to play our game as best we can, defend well and try our best to make a nuisance of ourselves."

'Paris FC could frustrate Chelsea like FC Twente did'

These are one-off games for some of these teams, and they're putting very good game plans together.

FC Twente were very good. They really frustrated Chelsea, and Paris FC could do something similar, so these are must-win games for Chelsea to pick up points and give themselves a chance to get in that top four.

'A point gained, not two points lost'

Chelsea v Paris FC (20:00 BST)

Chelsea

Captain Millie Bright says that Chelsea have to 'remain grounded' after making a disappointing start to their Champions League campaign last week.

"I think it's important to be patient in the new Champions League format and remain grounded because every point matters," said Bright ahead of the Blues second league phase fixture.

The Blues were unexpectedly held to a 1-1 draw by Dutch champions FC Twente on matchday one, a side that they defeated home and away in last year's group stage.

Bright added, "I think upon reflection, we see it as a point gained, not two points lost. Of course, we wanted to go out and win that game.

"We wanted to start in a better way, but I don't think it's the end of the world that we drew."

'Bright leaves national team with head held high'

Millie Bright made that decision based on how she's feeling about the situation. It wasn't anyone else's decision. She took that time after the Euros to really digest it and think, 'Is this the right moment for me?', and she's made that decision now.

And speaking from my perspective about Millie, she's been such an amazing leader for the team. She's driven the team to different heights in the way she plays, she's always put her body on the line, and she can leave the national team with her head held high and the shirt in a better place than it was.
