Mississippi State stays unbeaten behind Super Kamario

FINAL: Mississippi State 31, Missouri 24

Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor capped a five-play, 85-yard drive with a 24-yard touchdown pass with 3:57 to play to give the Bulldogs their first top-25 win for his program since 2014. Taylor finished with 360 yards passing and three touchdowns, his fourth straight start with three or more touchdown passes — a first in program history.

Taylor led consecutive touchdown drives in the fourth quarter after his team had fallen behind 24-17 in the second half. Mississippi State is 4-0 in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1944-45.

The Bulldogs had just one SEC win over Jeff Lebby's first two seasons as coach and are now 2-0 in the conference this season.

"We're trying to take the next step and we've got so much out in front of us," Lebby said.

Dylan Raiola leads Oregon to victory over USC after scary Dante Moore injury

FINAL: Oregon 41, USC 27

When Oregon saw star quarterback Dante Moore leave the game on a stretcher in the second quarter trailing 10-7, there were serious concerns for the Ducks in both the short- and long-term. Then backup Dylan Raiola stepped in and kept the Ducks' offense rolling, leading five touchdown drives for the Ducks in a dominant performance in the Coliseum, as they eventually pulled away from the Trojans for a 14-point win.

Raiola finished the game 19-of-25 for 289 yards and two touchdowns in a wildly impressive showing after being thrust into action suddenly. The win keeps Oregon's hopes of competing for a Big Ten title and a College Football Playoff berth alive, and Raiola's individual performance provides optimism that he can keep the Ducks at that elite level for however long Moore's absence lasts. Moore had feeling in his extremities after taking a vicious late hit on a slide, but was taken to a hospital for evaluations and we won't know more on his condition until they're don with testing and examinations.

On the other side, it's the continuation of a frustrating trend at USC, where they've been outclassed by top competition in the Lincoln Riley era. The defense had no answers for the Ducks and while Jayden Maiava kept the Trojans in it as long as he could, the offense wasn't quite sharp enough to keep pace in a shootout. Now Riley will face tough questions in what felt like a make or break year as the Trojans get set to hit the meat of their Big Ten schedule with some tough opponents on the horizon including Ohio State and Indiana.

Kamario Taylor puts Mississippi State on top with a fourth quarter dart

4Q: Mississippi State 31, Mizzou 24

It's been a back-and-forth affair all night in Starkville, but Kamario Taylor has put the home team on top with an incredible sequence of throws in the first quarter. After a deep ball down the left sideline to a fully laid out Anthony Evans III, Taylor threw a dart over the middle to Sanfrisco Magee to put the Bulldogs on top with under four to play.

Now it's on Austin Simmons to find the answer for Mizzou in what's been one of the most entertaining games of the night.

Dylan Raiola hits Dakorien Moore for a go-ahead TD

4Q: Oregon 34, USC 27

The shootout in the Coliseum continues with another touchdown pass from Dylan Raiola. The Oregon backup has come in and stepped up in a big way, with his latest touchdown on a moon ball to Dakorien Moore, who shook free of the corner and then was able to rise up for a contested catch as the ball hung in the air for seemingly forever before getting to him.

Perhaps more impressive than the Ducks scoring again on USC's porous defense is that they were able to get a stop on the ensuing USC drive, stopping a 4th and 7 attempt by USC at midfield to take over with a chance to go up two scores.

Pokes snap Big 12 losing streak

FINAL: Oklahoma State 41, West Virginia 24

The last time Oklahoma State won a Big 12 conference game was Nov. 25, 2023, when Alan Bowman was quarterback and Ollie Gordon was a first-year starter. Nearly three years later, the 18-game conference losing streak is over after the Cowboys overcame an early deficit to beat West Virginia 41-24.

Cowboys wide receiver Wyatt Young took over the game in the second half, finishing with eight catches for 192 yards and a touchdown out of the slot. Quarterback Drew Mestemaker had 274 passing yards in the second half alone. West Virginia rushed for an absurd 334 yards, but the Cowboys locked down in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Austin Simmons cooking in Starkville

Start of 4Q: No. 19 Missouri 24, No. 24 Mississippi State 17

After shaking off a slow start, Austin Simmons has asserted himself in Starkville.

Simmons has made some big time throws to give the Tigers a fourth-quarter lead on the road. His best throw of the night might've been on the one that just put Mizzou up by seven. He dropped one in a bucket to Cayden Lee for a 28-yard score, and that was Simmons' third touchdown pass of the day.

Lee has been rolling as well. He's up to seven catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

Alabama turns up heat on Shane Beamer's hot seat

FINAL: Alabama 49, South Carolina 18

Keelon Russell threw four touchdown passes, rushed for another and accounted for 400 yards of total offense during a dominant effort from the eighth-ranked Crimson Tide. Russell's four touchdown passes in the opening half torched a Gamecocks' secondary that gave up four touchdown passes in last week's loss to Mississippi State.

Alabama has won 89 straight games at home against unranked teams. South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers had a touchdown pass in the first half to Nyck Harbor, but an interception in the second quarter that was returned for a touchdown by Red Morgan pushed Alabama's lead to 35-3.

Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer has now lost seven straight games against SEC competition and 11 of his last 13 against Power Four opponents overall.

One-score game in L.A.

End of 3Q: No. 20 Oregon 27, No. 12 USC 20

As expected Oregon and USC are going to take this thing down to the wire. The Ducks hold a seven-point lead going into the fourth quarter, but the Trojans have the ball with a chance to tie.

The offenses have started to find a rhythm in the second half, and Dylan Railoa has been great in relief of Dante Moore. He's completed 76.5 percent of his passes for 207 yards and a scored since the second quarter. For USC, Jayden Maiava is up to 224 yards and a touchdown.

Expect to see more big plays from those two down the stretch.

Wild finish coming in Morgantown

Early 4Q: Oklahoma State 31, West Virginia 24

In a battle of two teams positioned to play Big 12 spoiler, Oklahoma State has a narrow lead on West Virginia early in the fourth quarter. Amazingly, West Virginia only has 61 yards passing, but the Mountaineers have rushed for 324 yards and three touchdowns entering the fourth quarter. Not to be outdone, Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker has 340 yards and two touchdowns.

It's been a while since we've gotten a real Big 12 point explosion, but Oklahoma State and West Virginia are delivering.

Tigers squeezing life out of Aggies

HALF: LSU 14, Texas A&M 3

LSU leads Texas A&M by 11 points at the half behind a dominant defensive effort in Baton Rouge. The Tigers held the Aggies to 142 yards and 3.7 yards per carry as five of six drives ended in punts.

Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed is having a rough game, completing only 7-of-15 passes for 75 yards, with 65 of his yards coming to Isaiah Horton and Mario Craver. Only 11 of Texas A&M's 33 plays were handoffs to running backs.

LSU's offense has been inconsistent, but has touchdown drives of eight and six plays to take control of the game. Quarterback Sam Leavitt has 152 yards and a touchdown on only 12 pass attempts.

Oregon leads USC with Dante Moore out

Halftime: No. 20 Oregon 13, No. 12 USC 10

The Ducks have been able to claw their way to a three-point lead at halftime in spite of some troublning circumstances. In the second quarter, Dante Moore was stretchered off the field after taking a late hit to the head. He's now at the hospital undergoing further evaluation.

In reliefe of Moore, backup quarterback and Nebraska transfer Dylan Raiola has completed six of his eight pass attempts for 63 yards and a touchdown. The Oregon defense, meanwhile, has limited USC to 166 total yards.

Alabama crushing South Carolina behind Keelon Russell

HALF: Alabama 35, South Carolina 10

Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell has 233 yards passing and four touchdowns after two quarters in Tuscaloosa during an impressive showing thus far for the unbeaten Crimson Tide. Russell only has two incompletions against a struggling secondary for the Gamecocks playing several newcomers.

"He's comfortable back there and our line's doing a good job for the most part," Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said. "We've got to keep the pedal down nd it's all about execution. Can't let off our guard."

Dante Moore stretchered off after dangerous hit

Mid 2Q: No. 20 Oregon 10, No. 12 USC 7

There was a frightening moment in L.A. as Moore had to be stretchered off the field following a dangerous hit.

Moore was scrambling to pick up a first down when he slide and took a late hit from Ducks linebacker Desman Stephens II. The hit seemed to knock Moore unconscious as he laid on the field motionless. Medical staff came out and placed Moore on a stretcher before taking him down the tunnel.

Dylan Raiola entered the game in Moore's absence, and his first play resulted in a short touchdown pass.

Wisconsin rallies late to stun Penn State

FINAL: Wisconsin 24, No. 13 Penn State 20

With under four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Wisconsin trailed Penn State by 10 points. After struggling to move the ball all evening, the Badgers suddenly found life on offense and scored two touchdowns in 2:18 to win the game and stun the Nittany Lions.

Wisconsin's game-winning play is one that will haunt Matt Campbell for quite a while. The Nittany Lions had the Badgers in a third-and-13 situation, but a coverage bust left tight end Jacob Harris all alone in the secondary. Colton Joseph found Harris downfield, and the big tight end broke a tackle as he rumbled to the end zone.

At one point in the game, the Badgers faced a 17-0 deficit, but their defense locked down and kept them in the game until the offense found some magic.

Kamario Taylor throws a dot to put Mississippi State on top

1Q: Mississippi State 7, Missouri 0

Few expected Mississippi State and Mizzou to be facing off in a ranked battle before the season, but as two of the biggest surprises in the SEC that's what was on tap in Starkville on Saturday night. The story for both teams this year has been tremendous quarterback play, and Kamario Taylor delivered the first haymaker of the night with a gorgeous moon ball down the sideline for a 43-yard touchdown to put the Bulldogs on top.

Now it's the job of Austin Simmons and the Tigers' offense to find an answer, as no one has been able to keep pace with Taylor and the Bulldogs so far this season.

Alabama QB Keelon Russell's humming in first half

Mid 2Q: Alabama 21, South Carolina 3

On the strength of three touchdown passes thus far from sophomore quarterback Keelon Russell, the eighth-ranked Crimson Tide's giving the Gamecocks all they can handle in Tuscaloosa. Ryan Coleman-Williams has been on the receiving end of two deep shots from Russell, who's 9-of-10 for 187 yards in the first half.

Facing considerable heat after last week's loss to Mississippi State, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer has lost 10 of his last 12 games against Power Four teams including six straight against SEC opponents.

Florida jumps into CFP conversation after blasting Ole Miss

FINAL: Florida 52, Ole Miss 28

Jon Sumrall questioned his 21st-ranked Gators as a betting favorite entering Saturday's showdown with unbeaten and fourth-ranked Ole Miss.

He won't be doing the any longer this season.

The Gators blew the doors off the Rebels during what was a three-point game in the third quarter, out-scoring the Rebels 28-7 the rest of the way behind 100-yard games from Jadan Baugh and Duke Clark on the ground. It was Florida's first win over a top-5 opponent since 2020 and snapped a 12-game losing streak in such games.

Florida has scored 50 or more points three times this season, which is once more than it did from 2022 through the 2025 campaign.

Georgia's demolition tour rolls on

FINAL: No. 2 Georgia 41, Oklahoma 13

The Bulldogs are two games into SEC play, and they have yet to win a game by fewer than 28 points. Georgia is just a wrecking crew, and its defense feasted on John Mateer and the Oklahoma offense today. The Bulldogs forced four turnovers, and the defense found the end zone once itself.

Some late production from the Sooners will make the final yardage totals look more respectable than they were for most of the game, but make no mistake about it. This was another demolition on the part of the Dawgs.

With a home game against Vanderbilt on deck, Georgia may not face a real challenge until it goes to Alabama on Oct. 10.

Boise State cruises in key G6 battle

Final: Boise State 32, Western Michigan 7

In a key Group of Six showdown with potential CFP ramifications, Boise State methodically handled business against Western Michigan on the road. Maddux Madsen completed 16 of 23 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns while Davis Riley totaled 138 yards rushing and a touchdown on 28 carries. Western Michigan didn't score until 1:03 remained as Boise State finished its nonconference schedule at 3-1. The lone loss is a 34-27 road defeat against Oregon. Now comes Boise's first venture through play in the revamped Pac-12.

Florida answers after quick TD from Chambliss

Early 3Q: No. 21 Florida 24, No. 4 Ole Miss 14

Coming out of halftime, the Rebels got exactly what they needed -- a quick touchdown drive that ended with Trinidad Chambliss running into the end zone for six points.

That gave Ole Miss some life and made it a three-point game in Gainesville, but it didn't stay that way for long. Even when Jadan Baugh is getting a breather, the Gators are still dangerous on the ground. Duke Clark found some daylight and turned on the jets for a 45-yard rushing score. Florida has now rushed for 192 yards.

Penn State defense finds the end zone

Early 2Q: No. 13 Penn State 10, Wisconsin 0

Wisconsin is facing a tough environment, and mistakes like the one Colton Joseph just made certainly won't help the situation.

The Badgers tried to leak a tight end out into the flat for an easy completion, but freshman DB Josiah Zayas read the play beauifully. He ran right with the tight end, and Joseph lofted a pass right into his arms. From there, no one was between Zayas and the end zone.

Just moments later, the Nittany Lions forced another interception, and Penn State is knocking on the door of a three-score lead midway through the first half.

Florida in command vs. No 4 Ole Misss

Half: Florida 17, Ole Miss 6

The Swamp is rocking as No. 21 Florida plays its first ranked opponent of the Jon Sumrall era. The Gators frustrated the high-octane Ole Miss offense in the first half while hitting the Rebels with a heavy dose of Jadan Baugh. Florida's star back has run 17 times for 83 yards and two touchdowns to help the Gators dominate time of possession (19:41-10:19). A week ago, the Gators wore Auburn down with a similar edge in time of possession and then hit the Tigers with a knockout blow in the form of a long Baugh touchdown run. It looks like Florida is going for a similar recipe here.

Notre Dame rolls to 4-0 against struggling Purdue

FINAL: Notre Dame 49, Purdue 10

The third-ranked Fighting Irish didn't leave much room for suspense in West Lafayette after a beatdown of Purdue, another statement from a team looking increasingly comfortable among the nation's elite this season. CJ Carr threw for 237 yards and three touchdown passes. Notre Dame held Purdue to 218 total yards. The Boilermakers' lone touchdown came in the final seconds when backup quarterback Evans Chuba tossed a 14-yard score against Notre Dame's 2s.

Utah holding strong in Big 12 opener at Iowa State

HALF: Utah 24, Iowa State 3

The 15th-ranked Utes have already piled up 272 yards of total offense with points on four possessions on the road in the Big 12 opener for both teams. Wayshawn Parker has 92 yards rushing, 52 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns for the Utes, who are looking to move to 4-0 under first-year coach Morgan Scalley.

Disaster for Oklahoma

Mid 2Q: Georgia 21, Oklahoma 0

With Oklahoma in the midst of an impressive drive against Georgia's vaunted defense, the Sooners faced a third-and-goal at Georgia's 2-yard line. John Mateer rolled out to his left and then fumbled as he was loading up to attempt a pass. Georgia's Chris Cole scooped it up and ran it back 85 yards for a touchdown to put the Bulldogs ahead 21-0. That was a potential 14-point swing against the Sooners and the sort of catastrophic miscue that you simply can't afford against a top-tier opponent on the road.

Kewan Lacy out for Ole Miss

Ole Miss star running back Kewan Lacy is out today with a shoulder injury as the No. 4 Rebels get underway against No. 21 in the Swamp. Lacy has been banged up throughout the season's first month after first getting dinged in the season-opening win over Louisville. He didn't play in the second half of Ole Miss' 32-24 win over LSU last night as the inexperienced JT Lindsey handled RB1 responsibilities. His absence puts more on the shoulders of star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who leads the Rebels into their first true road game of the season.

Wake Forest stuns Louisville

Final: Wake Forest 30, Louisville 27

Wake Forest just stunned Louisville as the Demon Deacons blocked a 57-yard field goal attempt with 18 seconds remaining to escape with an upset win over the No. 16 Cardinals. Much of the credit goes to the Demon Deacons defense. After an explosive first half for both offenses, neither team scored a touchdown in the second. Wake Forest did an incredible job of suppressing Louisville's running game by limiting Keyjuan Brown and Isaac Brown to just 81 yards on 21 carries.

No. 3 Notre Dame pummeling Purdue behind CJ Carr's precision

HALF: Notre Dame 35, Purdue 0

The Fighting Irish have scored touchdowns on four of five offensive possessions and had a fumble return score in the second quarter to blitz the Boilermakers through a half on the road. Notre Dame has won 10 straight against the Boilermakers dating back to the 2008 season, including eight by 10 or more points.

CJ Carr has thrown a pair of touchdown passes to go with 186 yards through the air. Notre Dame hasn't been tested yet this season, and likely won't over the next two weeks (at North Carolina, vs. Stanford) prior to a showdown at ninth-ranked BYU on Oct. 17.

No. 11 Texas Tech throttles Sam Houston in second half

FINAL: Texas Tech 49, Sam Houston 14

The Red Raiders scored 28 unanswered points after intermission and pulled away from the Bearkats after a rocky start behind two defensive touchdowns from Austin Romaine and two rushing scores from Cameron Dickey.

Leading 21-14 at halftime after a three-touchdown lead quickly became a single score following three second-quarter interceptions from Will Hammond, Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire blamed himself for execution faults and said his team needed to get back to the basics. Hammond led consecutive scoring drives to open the second half to put the game away and let his defense do the rest.

Jeremiah Smith ties school record

Jeremiah Smith has tied an Ohio State school record with four receiving touchdowns in a game. His latest covered 26 yards and put Ohio State ahead of Illinois 35-13 in the fourth quarter. The last Buckeye to make four touchdown grabs in a game was Noah Brown in a 2016 win at Oklahoma. Smith is the first player in school history to make 10+ receptions with four touchdown grabs in a single game. He's up to 205 yards as quarterback Julian Sayin continues to thrive through the air in Ohio State's Big Ten opener.
