Liverpool are reportedly tracking a number of transfer targets ahead of the window opening on Monday

Seven Liverpool stars are currently competing at the World Cup across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Meanwhile, things are equally hectic back at Anfield, where Andoni Iraola and his backroom staff are working tirelessly on transfer business ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The new boss will be eager to hit the ground running at Liverpool, and another substantial transfer window appears to be in the pipeline. The Reds have been linked with numerous players to bolster key areas throughout the squad.

Liverpool initially boasted eight World Cup representatives. However, Wataru Endo has since withdrawn from the Japan squad due to a foot injury.

As a result, he will no longer come up against Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk as the Netherlands face Japan on Sunday evening. Van Dijk is joined by Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch in the Dutch ranks, while Florian Wirtz flies the flag for Germany, Alisson guards the net for Brazil and Alexander Isak leads the line for Sweden.

Several transfer targets are also in action over the coming days, with Reds scouts likely attending fixtures throughout the tournament. With all attention fixed on the major competition, one exciting winger has declared his loyalty for Liverpool before any transfer dealings have even begun.

Here, the ECHO rounds up all the latest news emerging from Anfield.

Yan Diomande admits club loyalty

Yan Diomande admitted last year that his ambition was to "play at Anfield," revealing that he was a devoted Reds supporter. The RB Leipzig winger has emerged as a significant target for Liverpool in recent months, with reports suggesting the club are leading the pursuit for his services.

A fee of £87million is currently under discussion, with Iraola keen to open talks with the German club. Diomande has previously made his intentions known, declaring his affection for the Reds on TikTok last November.

He said: "I have one [dream], I want to play at Anfield. I want to play for Liverpool. I'm a big fan of Liverpool."

However, the 19-year-old has subsequently clarified that the "dream" remark was intended for his Liverpool-supporting father. He told Bild: "People made it out to be my dream club, but first and foremost, it's my dad's favourite club.

"It was always his great wish to see me play there someday because he loves the atmosphere at Anfield. He always raved about Steven Gerrard. I was too young to see him play. We didn't even have a TV at home for a long time."

Mo Salah replacement targeted

Diomande isn't the sole winger Liverpool are monitoring this summer. Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola has emerged as a target for the Reds, with speculation that the France international could soon be departing.

TalkSPORT has reported that Liverpool are monitoring Barcola, and PSG may entertain a transfer if they secure an alternative option on the wing. According to reports, Liverpool would need to spend approximately £86m to lure the exciting talent away from PSG as a replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah at Anfield.

The Egyptian confirmed his departure from the club after agreeing to terminate his contract a year early. Iraola will be eager to bring in proven players as he looks to hit the ground running at the start of his Anfield tenure.
