Eala to meet Tauson in US Open debut

Filipino tennis hotshot Alex Eala’s first opponent in her US Open main draw debut has been revealed.

According to the tournament’s official website, she will face world No. 15 Clara Tauson from Denmark in the first round.

This will be the first time Eala and Tuason will play each other in their pro tennis careers.

The 22- year-old Tauson reached the round of 64 in the US Open in 2021, 2023 and 2024 and holds a win-loss record of 33-17.

The 20-year-old Eala, on the other hand, has a 26-18 record. She is ranked No. 70 in the world.

The US Open main draw starts on Aug. 24.
