Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal will face off in the IFA Shield 2025 final at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) on Saturday in what will be the fourth Kolkata Derby of the year.

The MBSG vs EBFC IFA Shield 2025 final match will start at 6:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) and will be available to watch on live streaming in India.

This is the 125th edition of the IFA Shield, which made its way back into the Indian football calendar after a three-year absence. The tournament was last held in 2021 and won by Real Kashmir, who didn’t defend their title this year.

A total of six teams, divided into two groups, started the IFA Shield 2025. After the round robin matches, the two group winners earned their places in the final.

Oscar Bruzon-coached East Bengal won Group A after beating Sreenidi Deccan 4-0 and Namdhari 2-0. Meanwhile, Jose Molina’s Mohun Bagan dominated Group B, beating Gokulam Kerala 5-1 and United SC 2-0.

Saturday’s match will see the two historic rivals, with over 100 years of history between them, meet for the fourth time this year.

The Mariners won the Indian Super League 2024-25 fixture back in January but the Red and Gold Brigade had the last laugh in the Calcutta Football League and then in the Super Cup quarter-finals in July and August, respectively.

Both teams also have a significant stake in the IFA Shield’s rich history.

Mohun Bagan’s triumph in the same tournament back in 1911 after beating the East Yorkshire Regiment is considered one of the early landmarks of Indian football.

Mohun Bagan have also won the IFA Shield title 20 times, with the last one coming in 2003. East Bengal, on the other hand, are the most successful team in the competition with 29 titles, with the most recent one coming in 2018.
