The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has received a major boost after its president, Syed Mohsen Gilani, met Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa on the sidelines of the 76th FIFA Congress.During the meeting, the AFC chief reaffirmed support for the federation and Pakistan football’s continued growth, while also stressing that stability within the PFF remains a key priority for Asian football.Sheikh Salman also acknowledged the PFF’s progress over the past year. This includes the development of FIFA Arena pitches, Pakistan’s entry into the FIFA Nations League, the expansion of the women’s national team, and the launch of the Football for Mental Health initiative in collaboration with the United Nations.The PFF delegation, which included Vice President Hafiz Zakaullah and Chief Operating Officer Shahid Niaz Khokhar, also held multiple bilateral meetings with international football bodies to strengthen ties and explore new opportunities.In talks with Football Association of Thailand President Nualphan Lamsam, Pakistan was invited to send teams across all levels to Thailand, with full support and facilities promised.Separately, discussions with Guyana Football Federation President Wayne Forde focused on coach education, referee development, and technical exchanges.Meanwhile, Namibia Football Association President Robert Shimooshili explored collaboration opportunities in youth and women’s football.In another key meeting, Barbados Football Association President and FIFA Council member Randy Harris discussed futsal development, referee education, and broader cooperation in both men’s and women’s football.Gilani said these engagements are part of a wider effort to boost cooperation, exchange expertise, and create real opportunities for the development of Pakistan football at all levels.
