MMUST Students Unite Through Sports to Mark International Sports Day

Students at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) celebrated International Sports Day with a vibrant display of unity through various sporting activities. This event aimed not only to celebrate sports but also to foster peace and reconciliation amid recent divisions following the emotionally charged MMUSO elections. The day featured a range of activities, including football, volleyball, athletics, and indoor games, drawing participation from students across different faculties and creating a lively atmosphere filled with cheers and applause.

Organized in response to the need for rebuilding unity, the sports event functioned as a platform to bridge gaps among students who had been divided during the elections. Student leaders highlighted the significance of sports as a tool for unification, emphasizing that such events facilitate dialogue and healing among students with differing political views. The newly elected MMUSO President, Mr. Valentine Obade noted that, “Sports bring people together regardless of their backgrounds or affiliations,” reinforcing that the day was about unity beyond political divides.
