Sheppard's big night continues

Ryan Wood

Will Sheppard having himself a night. He caught a touchdown earlier with great footwork. Now he shows off his hands going high in traffic over the middle for a 20-yard grab. He's the Packers' leading receiver tonight catching all 6 of his targets for 47 yards.

Packers pressuring Broncos' No. 3 quarterback

Tom Silverstein

The third-teamers are getting after the quarterback. Newcomer Arden Walker, who was picked up off waivers after Minnesota cut him, let a sack slip through his hands on one play, but Anthony Campbell cleaned up a short time later with a sack of Sam Ehrlinger. Besides the two pressure plays, Ehringer had to scramble on another. The Broncos had to punt after Campbell's sack. The Packers have two sacks on the night.

Packers celebrate Jaden Nixon's TD

Tom Silverstein

You would have thought the Packers just won the Super Bowl the way they mobbed Jaden Nixon after his 3-yard touchdown run. The younger brother of veteran cornerback Keisean Nixon, Jaden Nixon finished up a seven-play, 60-yard touchdown drive with runs of 16 and 3 yards. Nixon blasted through a crowd of players at the goal line and never lost his feet. When he came to the sideline, Keisean was one of the first to greet him but when he further toward the bench, he was swarmed by players who wanted to congratulate him.

10:30 pm CT

McCord performing well with backup offense

Tom Silverstein

Kyle McCord has the odds against him considering the line he's playing behind and some of the inexperienced receivers and tight ends he must throw to, but he has managed to complete 6 of 11 passes for 69 yards. His favorite targets are Isaiah Neyor, who has two catches for 36 yards, and J. Michael Sturdivant, who left the game with an apparent head injury. Look for him to continue to focus on Neyor.

10:26 pm CT

Field goal cuts lead to 23-13

Emmett Prosser

Will Lutz kicks a 36-yard feld goal to bring the Broncos within 10 at 23-13 with about 30 seconds left in the third quarter. Jarrett Stidham missed Hakeem Butler badly on consecutive throws with MJ Devonshire in coverage.

10:03 pm CT

Cornerback Hadden continues to impress

Tom Silverstein

Kamal Hadden is having a day. The guy who suffered the gruesome ankle injury tackling Derrick Henry last year, keeps making big plays. He has two tackles for loss and five tackles total. On the last drive, he shot in from his slot position and dropped running back Tyler Badie for a 5-yard loss.

Mark Perry continues to make big plays as interception leads to field goal at end of half

Emmett Prosser and Ryan Wood

A week ago, Mark Perry tackled Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth short of the goal line on fourth-and-goal. This week, he picks off Jarrett Stidham. That's a pretty good way to stake a claim for a spot on the roster. Smack kicks a 43-yard field goal at the end of the half. The Packers lead 23-10

9:37 pm CT August 21, 2026

Smack easily hits 59-yarder, Packers lead 20-10

J. Michael Sturdivent in concussion protocol

Ryan Wood

J. Michael Sturdivent takes a hard hit from Broncos LB Red Murdock after an 8-yard catch. Tried to get up and keep going, but NFL's concussion protocol prevented him from staying on the field. Tough break.

9:32 pm CT August 21, 2026

McCord will replace Taylor at QB

Kyle McCord warming up during the 2-minute warning. Might get another crack at the 2-minute drill if Packers defense gets a stop.

9:26 pm CT August 21, 2026

Taylor succeeds despite being under pressure

Tom Silverstein

Backup quarterback Ty'Rod Taylor is moving the team, but not in a conventional way. He has completed just 2 of 6 passes for 8 yards. At times, he's been under heavy pressure and other times it looks like he's bailing out of the pocket quickly. It could be because no one is getting open. His two biggest plays were a pass interference draw from Bo Melton for 18 yards and a personal foul late hit on the quarterback for 15 yards. He did hit Melton on a slant for a 7-yard gain to the 3 on third and 2 and on third and 2 hit Will Shepherd for a touchdown. Shepherd did an amazing job of getting his second toe in for the score.

9:24 pm CT August 21, 2026

Sheppard shows sharp footwork on TD catch

Ryan Wood

Great footwork from Packers wide receiver Will Sheppard on the sideline. Shook Broncos corner Jahdae Barron on an out route, and just grazed the grass swinging his left foot to grab Tyrod Taylor's first TD pass this preseason.

9:07 pm CT August 21, 2026

Skyy Moore shows burst on punt return

Ryan Wood

Skyy Moore fields a punt at the 6-yard line, surveys his alleys, and returns it 16 yards to give the Packers offense some breathing room. Amazing how something like that can actually happen.

9:06 pm CT August 21, 2026

Cisse injury does not appear to be serious

Ryan Wood

Officially, Cisse is staying in the sidelines. Had a quick check in with Matt LaFleur, and now he's yucking it up with teammates. Not the look of a serious injury, which is probably why everyone around the rookie is smiling.

9:03 pm CT August 21, 2026

Cisse's night appears to be over

Tom Silverstein

Cisse is on the bench with what looks like a bag of ice on his knee or upper shin.

9:02 pm CT August 21, 2026

Smack kicks another long field goal

Ryan Wood

Trey Smack was 10-of-13 from more than 50 yards in college. He's now 3-for-3 from 50-plus this preseason after kicking a 51-yard field goal. That rookie's got a leg.

8:57 pm CT August 21, 2026

Defense making plays despite field goal

Tom Silverstein

A couple of nice defensive plays on that the last series despite the Packers giving up 3 points. Rookie defensive tackle Chris McClellan put a nasty move on starting left guard Ben Powers, leaving him in the dust and a clear lane to quarterback Bo Nix. McClellan chased Nix out of the pocket. Nix dumped the ball in the flat to running back Jonah Coleman but he nickel Kamal Hadden cut him down for a 2-yard loss on a diving tackle. On third down, McClellan stopped Coleman for a 5-yard gain, forcing a field goal attempt.

8:54 pm CT August 21, 2026

Lutz gives Broncos 10-7 lead

Emmett Prosser

Will Lutz kicks a 53-yard field goal to put the Broncos up 10-7 early in the second quarter.

8:53 pm CT August 21, 2026

Cisse out of the medical tent, making cuts on sideline

Ryan Wood

Cornerback Brandon Cisse stepped out of the blue medical tent awhile ago. He immediately did his backdrop, then made some cuts on the sideline. He's moving on his own, which is a good sign. Now standing on the sideline with trainers. He'd be in the locker room by now if this were serious.

8:51 pm CT August 21, 2026

McClellan looks sharp on pass rush

Ryan Wood

Rookie Chris McClellan, shows a wicked pass rush, He left Broncos starting LG Ben Powers with two hands on the ground crunched over at the waist as McClellan passed by. He showed some twitch on that play.

8:44 pm CT August 21, 2026

Cisse limps off after punt

Tom Silverstein

Cornerback Brandon Cisse limped off the field after the punt to the Broncos. Cisse is a gunner on the punt coverage team. He's standing but something happened to his leg. The trainers are looking at either his left knee or left shin. Cisse is going to the blue tent to be looked at. Benjamin St-Juste is in the game for him.

8:42 pm CT August 21, 2026

Despite rust, Lloyd showing speed

Emmett Prosser and Ryan Wood

There's MarShawn Lloyd's burst. He encounters a wall taking an outside zone handoff, but found the space and hit his accelerator for 7 yards. As Lloyd gets his timing back after missing 2 years of football, would expect to see that more.

8:40 pm CT August 21, 2026

Broncos still playing defensive starters

Tom Silverstein

The Broncos kept their No. 1 defense on the field for the second series against the Packers' No. 2 offense.

8:39 pm CT August 21, 2026

Taylor replacing Love

Tom Silverstein

It looks like Jordan Love's night is through. Backup Tyrod Taylor is lined up on the sideline with the offensive line. Love finished 5 of 7 for 56 yards and a TD (134.5 rating) in his only series.

8:37 pm CT August 21, 2026

Gannon wants safeties in man coverage, but McKinney burned

Tom Silverstein

Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon wants his safeties to be able to cover man-to-man, but he might have been asking a little too much out of Xavier McKinney. Lined up against Jayden Waddle, one of the best slot receivers in the game, McKinney got scorched for a 35-yard gain. Gannon wants to use three safeties on the field together a lot and that means one of the safeties will have to play in the slot. Not a good look in Week 2.

8:35 pm CT August 21, 2026

Broncos throwing long early

Emmett Prosser

The Packers secondary surrendered two plays of over 20 yards on the Broncos' first drive including a 21-yard touchdown from Bo Nix to RJ Harvey.

8:32 pm CT August 21, 2026

Jaylen Waddle just put quite a route on Xavier McKinney there. A Big 35-yard catch on the All-Pro safety.

8:27 pm CT August 21, 2026

Broncos' Surtain in regular season mode

Tom Silverstein

If the Packers thought that they were going to get exhibition season cornerback Patrick Surtain tonight, they were wrong. Surtain, the perennial all-pro cornerback, came to play. He stripped the ball from receiver Christian Watson after a reception only to have the play reversed via replay because Watson's knee hit the ground right before the ball came out. Then he raked at the ball in Matthew Golden's arms, nearly stripping it out. Golden hung on and lost the ball only after he hit the ground. Finally, Surtain leveled Watson with a vicious hit on the sideline after a short reception.

Packers rookie Brandon Cisse idolizes Surtain and shares an agent with him. The two talk. We'll see if he shows the same kind of energy.

8:24 pm CT August 21, 2026

Love connects with Lloyd on 11-yard TD

Ryan Wood

MarShawn Lloyd isn't just healthy. He's in the end zone. He runs a nifty Texas route for a wide open 11-yard touchdown catch from Jordan Love.

Jordan Love opening drive: 5-7, 56 yards, TD, 134.5 passer rating. He xonnected well with Christian Watson and Matthew Golden on the drive. That seems like a good way to wrap his preseason.

8:20 pm CT August 21, 2026

Lloyd still sluggish in return to field

Tom Silverstein

Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd continues to look like a guy who hasn't played much football. His speed and cuts are sharp, but his vision and timing seem off. He had a nice cutback opportunity on third and 2 at the Denver 12, but broke the run wide. He barely got the first down after the officials conducted a visual measurement. He had a solid run on the next play, but a holding penalty negated it.

8:16 pm CT August 21, 2026

Packers successful on early fourth down situation

Emmett Prosser

The offense stays out on 4th and 1 from the 40 and and Love hits Golden in stride for a 20-yard completion and a first down.

Packers receiver Christian Watson had cornerback Patrick Surtain on a slant with the Broncos sending a five-man blitz. Surtain stripped the ball from Watson, but replays showed Watson's left knee was down before the ball was pulled out.

8:11 pm CT August 21, 2026

Packers to receive kickoff

Tom Silverstein

The Packers won the toss and elected to receive, which means we'll see Jordan Love and the offense right away. It could be their only series of the night, so pay attention. Skyy Moore and Bo Melton are back for the kickoff.
