Brentford Women winger Nikki Woods and husband Daniel are expecting their first child in 2026.Woods told team-mates the exciting news recently, with a baby Bee expected next March.“It’s something that we were waiting for for a while, so we’re just over the moon to finally be here and excited to welcome a new baby in March 2026,” said the forward.“Everyone’s been so supportive; it was really special to tell the girls. I basically took them to one side after training one evening and told them, and everyone was celebrating in the room!“It was a really special moment that I’ll remember forever.”Club sport rehabilitator Charles Rennie has played a key role, as Woods worked through a modified programme in the early stages of her pregnancy.“I told Charles early on, he was actually the third person to know after me and my husband. Early days, we made up an injury just whilst I was a bit less confident in telling people the news,” she explained.“As soon as everyone else found out, they’ve been fully onboard and creating a programme for me and adapting training where possible, so I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive group of people to be surrounding me at this time, to be honest.”Woods made special mention of head coach Carly Williams and consultant Lois Fidler, amongst the other staff members at the club, for their support in creating a safe and supportive environment.“Lois and Carly have both been incredible since they found out, so a special mention to them as well alongside the medical team,” she said.“Coaching staff, physio staff, the doctor at the club, they’ve been really supportive and helping me find a programme that I feel safe and comfortable doing and not pressuring me whatsoever in what I can and can’t do, it’s all down to me essentially.”Woods doesn’t have to look far for assistance throughout the process, with team-mate Rebekah Edwards having returned to the club after giving birth.“I spoke to her last week briefly when she found out the news… now that she knows properly, I’ll be able to pick her brain for all the tips,” said Woods.“I’ve decided that I’m returning. I’ve spoken to the physio team and been in contact with other players who have had pregnancies and have got back playing, so I definitely want to play next season.“That’s a big part of why I’m still so involved in training at the moment, in the hope that the more I do now, the easier the return will be. Equally, the healthier I am at the moment, the healthier the baby will be.“All lots of positives still being involved, but the aim is to get back to football at some point.”
