Man Utd 'in the mix' for 16-year-old wonderkid who 'every major club' are watching

Manchester United are already making plans for future transfers, with one young talent in particular being sought after by most of Europe on the list.

Investing in wonderkids is something Manchester United have frequently done over recent years, with Ineos making it a key part of their recruitment policy.

Before Sir Jim Ratcliffe set the goal of signing stars of tomorrow, it was something United was doing.

It was the case as United signed Alejandro Garnacho from Atletico Madrid, and also with Hannibal Mejbri joining from Monaco, along with Alvaro Fernandez from Real Madrid.

Ineos have continued this trend with Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi, and Diego Leon all fitting the bill; meanwhile, Cristian Orozco is set to join United next summer.

But already another addition is being desired by United, and he would be the best of the bunch.

Manchester United in touch with Gilberto Mora over future transfer swoop

This autumn, United have had scouts watching the U20 World Cup in Chile, with Gilberto Mora of Mexico among the top priorities.

The tournament is about to reach the knockout stages, and Mora has been a shining light for Mexico, being arguably the top contender for the player of the competition so far.

Now, United in Focus can confirm, via Graeme Bailey, that his performances are not going unnoticed, with the club in contact over a potential future deal.

“Gilberto Mora is lighting up the U20 World Cup, he went to do the tournament as the most talked about player and he is living up to the billing.

“Three goals and an assist, and every major club has seen him do it.

“United’s scouts are there, and compiling reports but everyone knows how good he is – it is just confirming what they know.

“United are in touch with his people, but they are not talking directly about a move to anyone – but United are making sure the player is aware and they are in the mix.”

Manchester United must do everything to sign Gilberto Mora

At the age of 16, Mora is already a fully capped Mexico international and is seen as his nation’s next superstar, tipped to be their main man at the 2026 World Cup, where Mexico are a joint-host.

United will need Christopher Vivell at the top of his game to secure the signing of Mora, as he is a generational talent who the club should be going all out for right now.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are both in contention; however, United could offer the Mexican first-team football by the time he turns 18 and is eligible to move to England.

There is no guarantee it is a possibility for United, with such big clubs in the running, but Ineos need to do everything possible to sell Old Trafford to Mora.

His list of suitors will only grow.
