Vaibhav Suryavanshi Spills 7-Word Batting Secret as Wins Surge

Vaibhav Suryavanshi might be only 15 years old, but he is already one of the best T20 cricket players in the IPL. Recently, his incredible 78-run knock launched the Rajasthan Royals ‘ powerplay against the reigning IPL champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The Rajasthan Royals put together the highest score from a powerplay for any team this year. They scored 97 runs while conceding only one wicket.

Every big-time player, regardless of the sport or league (NBA, MLB, NFL, or NHL), has a phrase or mantra to help them get into the right mindset.

When speaking after the match, Suryavanshi revealed his specific mantra for facing big-name, big-time bowlers and not letting the moment overpower him.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Mantra Early in T20 Cricket Career

Suryavanshi has faced some incredibly impressive bowlers already in his very early IPL career. Less than 15 matches into his career, and he has faced the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Josh Hazlewood.

When speaking after RR’s most recent victory, Suryavanshi revealed his simple mantra.

“At the back of your mind, you are aware of who is bowling,” Suryavanshi revealed about his ongoing battle with bowlers. “But I make a conscious effort to play the ball and not the bowler, and to stick to my own game. My father, my coaches, and my guardian, Romi sir, constantly remind me that this is a long journey.”

“They tell me to focus on my process and my cricket, without letting my mind get distracted by other things.”

Additionally, he expanded specifically on his batting process.

“I try to stick to what I work on in practice and not try anything extra,” the 15-year-old quipped. “I trust my natural game and focus on doing the basics well.”

Yes, Suryavanshi did a lot of things well against RCB. He kept up his fabulous sophomore numbers with a 78-run knock off just 26 deliveries. That kind of production had him performing at a Strike Rate of 300.

He finished the match with eight boundaries to go along with seven sixes.

His seven word mantra (play the ball and not the bowler) has helped him simplify his game, while also experiencing tremendous success.

Suryavanshi has an amazing stat line for the 2026 IPL tournament. For starters, he has struck for 200 runs, the first batter to do so this year.

Additionally, he has a Strike Rate of 266.66, two 50s, 18 fours, and 18 sixes. He leads the IPL in sixes and is second in fours.

Rajasthan Royals Are the Cream of the Crop

After yesterday’s clash, only two teams remain undefeated in the IPL 2026 season. The Punjab Kings and the Rajasthan Royals sit on top of the IPL standings following the RCB’s fall to RR.

RR has a 4-0 record to go along with eight points. They haven’t had the easiest schedule, yet, they have victories against the Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and now, RCB.

It’s not an easy feat to score the highest powerplay total of the early IPL season.

The Rajasthan Royals are in action next against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, April 11, 2026. If they are going to continue on this Cinderella streak, Suryavanshi will be a big reason why they accomplish that.
