Arsenal could be about to receive a clearer indication of their hopes of signing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

The Gunners have been credited with an interest in signing the winger this summer as Mikel Arteta seeks out attacking reinforcements in order to attempt to mount a successful Premier League title challenge.

New signings are yet to come through the door at the Emirates Stadium, though work is being done and Eze is the latest name linked.

football.london understands the availability of certain forward options are being assessed, including the Palace man.

Year upon year, the 26-year-old's importance at Selhurst Park appears to have grown. Last term he racked up 14 goals and 11 assists for Oliver Glasner's side, who finished 12th in the Premier League standings whilst winning the FA Cup - their first-ever major trophy.

And along with that prize came qualification for next season's UEFA Europa League, although their participation in the competition remains in doubt.

BBC Sport have reported that European football's governing body is expected to announce its decision on Friday on whether or not Palace will be able to compete in the competition - something that could end up a factor in Eze's future.

There has been a conflict of interest regarding American businessman John Textor's 43 per cent ownership of the Eagles and his stake in French club Lyon, who also qualified for the competition. UEFA recently tightened their rules over multi-club ownership.

Because they finished lower in their league's standings than Lyon, the London club could therefore be barred from accessing the Europa League.

If they are deemed to have breached UEFA rules and are no longer able to participate in the Europa League, it could ultimately affect their stance on Eze's future.

It could also impact Eze's own personal desire to stay, especially if the potential to play Champions League football with Arsenal is on the cards.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are looking at other positions to bolster Arteta's squad before pre-season begins.

Midfielder Martin Zubimendi is widely reported to be close to completing a switch from Real Madrid and fellow Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga should be adding depth to the goalkeeping department with his £5m release clause from Chelsea agreed to be paid, football.london understands.

The Gunners are also looking to sign Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard and lastly, reported interest has emerged in Valencia's Spanish Under-21 international defender Cristhian Mosquera with talks said to be underway.
