MUTV pundit says Manchester United are about to sign an 'unplayable' star with 'wonderful' qualities

Manchester United have done a handful of exciting deals in the summer transfer window already, but one is particularly strong.

Each of Ineos‘ summer signings for 2025 has either been high potential or ready-made brilliance.

First through the door for Manchester United was Matheus Cunha. This signing is an immediate upgrade within Ruben Amorim’s first team, CEO Omar Berrada has even tipped Cunha to be like Eric Cantona at United.

To date, Cunha is the only first-team signing, however, Ineos have been busy on the ‘high potential’ side of recruitment.

Diego Leon is set to join United from Cerro Porteno this summer for a fee of just £3m initially. The Paraguayan is just 18, yet Leon has drawn comparisons to Marcelo.

Additionally, United have agreed to sign Enzo Kana-Biyik for free as his Le Havre contract expires next week, confirmation should be soon.

United have also signed 16-year-old Harley James-Emsden who is seen as one of England’s most exciting defensive talents.

However, the next signing United make may be the most impactful.

Ben Thornley says Bryan Mbeumo is unplayable

After weeks of negotiating, United are now imminently about to sign Bryan Mbeumo. The £63m transfer is expected to be completed next week with a medical pencilled in.

However, excitement has already been in full flow over Mbeumo’s arrival as fans have seen him shine for years at Brentford.

Mbeumo has also impressed several times against United. During the most recent clash between Brentford and the Red Devils, Ben Thornley was on commentary for MUTV with plenty of praise for Mbeumo, before he had even been linked with the club.

“I’m interested to see how Harry Amass copes”, Thornley began in relation to the youngster taking on Mbeumo.

“With a player who is almost unplayable on his day in Bryan Mbeumo. The pace, the power, the finishing prowess and we’ve already mentioned that he plays so much football, he’s never injured.

“Another thing Bryan Mbeumo does have is two wonderful feet.”

This is huge praise from Thornley and perfectly highlights why fans should be so excited about the Cameroon international’s arrival.

He is also not alone in his praise for Mbeumo.

What Manchester United legends have said about Bryan Mbeumo

Despite not having signed for the club yet, Thornley is not the only name associated with United to speak about Mbeumo publicly.

After an impressive 2024-25, Gary Neville named Mbeumo in his team of the season, citing his contributions as a deciding factor.

“What Mbeumo has done this season is special, I think he’s fantastic and someone I would love to have on my team, I’ve gone for him on numbers.”

On a separate occasion, Neville described Mbeumo as “perfect”.

Separately, Rio Ferdinand has lauded Mbeumo for his ‘ridiculous’ talent, expressing his excitement around the transfer.

Signing Mbeumo is a big statement by United and one that could have a massive impact next season.
