Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has shared his insights about the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 team selection, discussing the challenges of player selection due to India's deep talent pool, while also commenting on Jasprit Bumrah 's role and his new cricket show in New Delhi on August 18.Chopra emphasized the competitive nature of team selection, pointing to India's impressive track record in recent T20 matches."The depth of talent is so immense that even if you are a Test captain ( Shubman Gill ) and have shattered a lot of records, you are not a certainty in a different format. This is going to be a tough selection. We have won 17 out of the last 20 T20 matches we played," Chopra told ANI.Regarding pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, Chopra expressed strong support for his inclusion in the team."He is a generational talent and one of the best that the world has ever seen. If he is available for the Asia Cup and he plays the games that matter, he should be there," Chopra noted.Shubman Gill has played 21 T20Is so far, scoring 578 runs in 21 innings at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 139. His international record shows steady progress, but it was IPL 2025 where he found good rhythm. Turning out for Gujarat Titans, Gill scored 650 runs in 15 innings, giving his team consistent starts at the top.For India, however, the opening slots are currently held by Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson , who have partnered each other in the last 12 T20Is. This means Gill will need to push his case strongly to break into the top order.
