There's nowhere to go but up for tennis ace Alex Eala.Eala continued her climb in the ultra-competitive field as she reached another career-best of No. 40 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.The 20-year-old Eala improved five rungs to take the No. 40 seat with 1,244 points in the elite list of professional women tennis players across the globe.The Filipina sensation recently finished in the quarterfinals of the WTA Abu Dhabi Open in the United Arab Emirates. She barged into the semis of the doubles event.“Thank you Abu Dhabi! Next stop, Doha,” Eala wrote on her Instagram post.It was part of Eala’s Middle East swing that will continue in WTA 1000 events in the star-studded Qatar Open in Doha and Dubai Tennis Championships.Eala also earned an invite to compete in the “Fifth Grand Slam” -- the prestigious Indian Wells Open in California next month.In Asia, the Pinay player placed behind No. 3 Kazakh Elena Rybakina, No. 15 Japanese Naomi Osaka, No. 26 Qinwen Zheng and No. 33 Xinyu Wang of China.Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka remained at No. 1 with 10,990 points, followed by Polish Iga Swiatek (7,978), Rybakina (7,523), and Americans Amanda Aminisova (6,680), and Coco Gauff (6,423).In Qatar, Eala is facing Czech Teresa Valentova in the competition’s Round of 64.
