No. 4 LSU Tops Women's Tennis, 4

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Florida Women's Tennis Team took its three-match winning streak on the road Thursday, but the Gators ran into the fourth-ranked team in the nation in the form of LSU and dropped a 4-0 decision to the Tigers. Florida entered the week ranked 23rd in the nation with recent wins over No. 11 Oklahoma and No. 60 Arkansas, but the loss to LSU dropped the Gators to 7-3 overall on the year, and 2-2 in the SEC. The Tigers are now 9-3 and 2-2 in conference.

Doubles

LSU got off on the right foot as Alexia Marginean and Addison Lanton picked up a 6-0 win over Lucie Pawlak and India Houghton at number three doubles. At number one, Florida's Xinyi Nong and Nikola Daubnerova, ranked No. 19 in the nation, were up 5-4 and serving for the win against the ninth ranked team in the country, Kayla Cross and Ella McDonald, when the Tigers' Cadence Brace and Carolina Kuhl completed their 6-4 victory over Valery Gynina and Brooke Black at number two.

Singles

Lanton upended Pawlak (No. 88) at number five singles for LSU's second point of the evening, and Brace (No. 52) put the Tigers on the cusp of victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Houghton (No. 103). When McDonald finished off Florida's Gabia Paskauskas at number three singles, 6-2, 6-3, LSU had the match in hand. The Gators' Black (6-4, 4-2) and Nong (6-3, 5-2) were both leading their opponents at number four and six singles, when the Tigers clinched the match, while Gynina (No. 76) trailed Cross (No. 65) 6-4, 5-4 at number two.
