Not even a broken bone will keep Marnus Labuschagne off the cricket field.

Seen sporting a brace on his right thumb during a Sheffield Shield match for Queensland, Labuschagne has revealed he has been dealing with a hand injury since the Ashes.

Labuschagne was hit in the hand by a delivery from England pacer Matt Potts in the final Test of the series.

According to medical experts, he should be sidelined to let the injury heal, but Labuschagne has decided to play through the pain.

“It’s just a few tendons on the inside of the thumb, and then the ligaments on top, a few ruptured ligaments, a high-grade tear of the tendon, and then a little bit of bone came off with the tendon,” Labuschagne told reporters on Friday.

“They (doctors) gave their opinion. The boundaries of me playing is I have to bat with a guard on, and we have to strap it and stuff like that.

“There’s some give and take there to make sure that we don’t do any more damage to it.

“Hopefully over time, being in this brace for eight weeks allows it to sort of heal and reattach the ligaments and tendons.”

Since suffering the injury, Labuschagne played several games for the Heat in the BBL.

He scored 41 for Queensland on a difficult batting wicket Friday with the Bulls 6/173 at the end of the second day and holding a 178-run lead over Victoria.

While not apart of Australia’s T20 World Cup bid, Labuschagne will head to Pakistan next month for the shorter form of the game after signing with PSL side Hyderabad Kingsmen.

The PSL (Pakistan Super League) season kicks off on March 26 with Labuschagne and Steve Smith both signing with franchises in recent days.

According to Pakistan sports journalist Faizan Lakhani, Hyderabad Kingsmen landing the signature of Labuschagne surprised many.

This is the Kingsmen’s first season in the PSL with former Aussie quick Jason Gillespie to coach the side.

Smith meanwhile inked a deal with another new PSL franchise in the Sialkot Stallionz who will be led by former Australian skipper Tim Paine.

The red-hot Smith signed the most expensive deal in PSL history and he’s set to receive just over $700,000 AUD for the five-week tournament.
