Filipina Tenny Madis thrilled for US NCAA journey in Hawai'i

FILIPINA tennis player Tennielle Madis has officially signed with University of Hawai‘i at Manoa for the U.S. NCAA Division I, the program announced on Tuesday.

“Please welcome Tennielle Madis from N’Lang, North Cotabato, Philippines, to the Rainbow Wahine ‘Ohana! She will be joining the ‘Bows in the fall of 2026,” the program said in an Instagram post.

“It’s truly an honor and a privilege to be part of Hawai’i Women’s Tennis. I’m deeply grateful as I begin this exciting new chapter of my life,” she said on an Instagram story.

Madis is currently in Grade 12, homeschooled. She is expected to start her journey in Hawai’i come September of 2026.

Madis, 18, recently competed in the inaugural WTA 125 Manila event, entering as a wild card. She made an early exit in the round of 32 after a loss to Thailand’s Mananchaya Sawangkaew.

And in the 31st Southeast Asian Games late last year, Madis won two bronze medals in the women’s doubles and team events.

Hawai‘i is set to open its Big West campaign against Cal State Fullerton.
