Manchester United have given Toby Collyer the green light to leave the club for good this summer, with the 22-year-old midfielder's future at Old Trafford appearing all but over.

As the Sun reports, the clearest sign of his standing at the club came when Collyer was left out of the travelling squad for United's pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid in Stockholm on Saturday, a game the Red Devils won 2-1.

Collyer Falls Down the Pecking Order

The midfielder's path to first-team football at United has narrowed significantly. Tyler Fletcher has moved ahead of him in the central midfield hierarchy, and the club are actively looking to recruit a specialist defensive midfielder this window.

United have already moved to strengthen that area of the pitch, with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans both arriving to add depth. Kobbie Mainoo, meanwhile, tied himself to the club by signing a five-year contract back in April, further blocking Collyer's route into the starting XI.

Despite his limited opportunities, Collyer has not been without his moments in a United shirt. He made his debut in the 2024 Community Shield and featured in the club's last two pre-season tour squads, racking up 13 appearances in total.
