Australia have burnt both of their reviews against Rohit Sharma. And both of them have come from Josh Hazlewood as he continued to trouble the batter on the off stump.

In the sixth over of his spell, Hazlewood cut Rohit in half, getting the ball to come in sharply from length. Rohit gets stuck in his crease while trying to defend and the ball goes straight into the hands of the keeper. There is a noise for sure.

Ahead of the 2nd ODI, Irfan Pathan said that Virat Kohli was still being haunted by the demons of BGT 2024-25. That turned out to be true today.

On Thursday, the plan to Kohli was slightly different. Instead of playing with the length, Bartlett decided to play with the lines. Instead of trying to get Kohli to fish outside off, Bartlett attacked the stumps and surprised Kohli with the line of attack.

The veteran batter got late in his defence and ended up losing his wicket to LBW.

Alright then, time to analyse.

What happened here in Adelaide? The pitch was not that spicy. The deck did not have too much bounce. So what exactly happened?

India got off to a very tentative start in the 2nd ODI. With Rohit Sharma struggling for runs, Shubman Gill got out trying to search for boundaries.

Virat simply looks off colour. However much the batting coach says that Kohli looks in good touch in the nets - he really does not.

6.5: Xavier Bartlett to Virat Kohli, OUT! LBW! Virat Kohli departs for another duck, the lack of playing time is quite evident in Kohli's form so far but this was an absolute peach from Xavier Bartlett. Full and straight. Kohli is very late on the flick and ends up getting trapped on the middle of the stumps. He has a long chat with Rohit and opts not to take a review.

You knew that this was coming. India were not moving the scoreboard at all, the pressure was building and the India captain falls trying to look for a boundary.

Excellent cricket from the Australians, but you have to say that the wicket was probably the result of Rohit Sharma's inability to score runs.

6.1: Xavier Bartlett to Shubman Gill, OUT! CAUGHT! Shubman Gill departs as Mitchell Marsh takes a good catch at mid off. On a length wide of off, Shubman Gill dances down the track and looks to just place this wide of mid off to his right but Gill ends up chipping this aerially and in reach of the Aussie skipper. Mitchell Marsh, at mid off, takes a few strides to his right, puts in a dive and catches this nice and clean. Shubman Gill departs.

A huge LBW shout against Rohit Sharma!

Josh Hazlewood goes outside off, outside off, and then brings one in. Rohit looks to wildly slog that one, gets completely beaten and the ball hits his pads.

The Australians are up but the umpire says no.

Mitchell Marsh has a short discussion with his team and Australia take the review.

The snicko shows that there is a slight underedge on the bat as the ball hits Rohit's back foot.

Rohit is safe, but just about.

He continues to put Rohit in trouble on the outside of off stump. Rohit is quite tentative at the moment.

3.3: Josh Hazlewood to Rohit Sharma, Josh Hazlewood bends his back and hits the hard length around off, the ball nips back in sharply onto Rohit and beats him on the inside. Rohit is hit on his thigh pad of the front foot and the height saves him here.

3.6: Josh Hazlewood to Rohit Sharma, Shouts for LBW but the umpire turns it down. Josh goes a bit fuller around off, Rohit Sharma presses in front to block this but gets late to bring his bat down. Rohit is hit on the back pad and a massive appeal for LBW from the Aussies. The umpire turns it down for probably impact outside off here.

Very good confidence boosting shots from both Rohit and Shubman against Mitchell Starc.

The fast bowler fishes wide outside off stump after that run out chance. Shubman leans into the drive and hits it through the cover for four. Glorious shot from the batter.

Rohit in the final ball of the over flicks a greedy Starc for a four through square leg. Starc wanted that ball to come in hard, but strayed too much on the leg side.

A good over for India this one.

Oooooo!!! Rohit Sharma survives an early run out chance in Adelaide.

Shubman Gill taps the ball to point in the 3rd over against Starc. Rohit wants a run and storms out. But the fielding is simply too good at point, where the ball is stopped and thrown straight to the non-striker's end.

Rohit turns back, rushes and puts in a dive. He survives by the barest of margin.

If this was the earlier Rohit - he would have never made it into his crease.

Josh Hazlewood starts from the other end and bowls a testing over at the start.

He stays on the off stump line and the brings one back in sharply in the third ball of the over. Rohit, who saw the ball fall just back of the length, leaves it and the delivery just about misses the middle stump.

Hazlewood tests Rohit on the off stump line, and ends up finishing with a maiden over.

Shubman Gill's luck with the toss is so bad that it is funny. He lost all the toss in Australia, has a habit of losing tosses in the IPL and now has lost two tosses in a row in Austrailia.

Mitchell Marsh opts to bowl in Adelaide, perhaps hoping for that early seam movement.

The hosts have brought in Xavier Bartlett, who is known well for his movement and his ability to provide variety through the middle overs.
