India T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill is on road to complete recovery and is expected to check-in at the Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI ) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru this week. It is reliably learnt that there was nothing alarming in his blood report and having recovered from the bout of viral flu, India's Test captain, who is in Mohali right now, is expected to return to full tilt training soon. The illness didn't allow the 25-year-old to participate in the opening round of the Duleep Trophy, starting July 28. In his absence, Haryana's Ankit Kumar, the original vice-captain, will lead North Zone vs East Zone. The CoE is buzzing with activity for the last few weeks as many contracted cricketers have been in and out of the facility for their regular fitness assessment. This also features some players who are part of various Duleep Trophy squads and also the ones who recently featured in the five Tests vs England. The likes of Kuldeep Yadav , Arshdeep Singh, Sai Sudharsan have been doing their routine fitness, and it's further understood that Mohammed Siraj, who has been resting after the gruelling series, will also be taking the flight to Bengaluru soon.Nitish Kumar Reddy is also camped at the CoE, recovering from the injury he had picked during the England series, and the all-rounder is still some time away from regaining complete match fitness.Earlier this month, Hardik Pandya had undergone assessment at the CoE and the premier all-rounder is currently training in Baroda for the last few days ahead of the Asia Cup to be held in the UAE next month. As far as Rishabh Pant is concerned, the plaster is off and he too is expected to commence his rehabilitation at the BCCI facility soon.India will start their Asia Cup campaign versus UAE on September 10 and all eyes will be on the September 14 blockbuster against the arch-rivals Pakistan. The Men in Blue announced their squad last week and it features the T20 specialists and also saw the return of Gill to the T20I set-up as Suryakumar Yadav's deputy.
