Keeley had already agreed to link up with the Storm on a two-year deal from the 2027 season, but has been granted an early release after struggling for playing time at the Dolphins.

Keeley has played 28 games for the Dolphins since making his NRL debut in 2022 at the Knights, having come through Newcastle’s pathways.

Injuries tested the Dolphins’ depth in 2025 and Keeley emerged as a key figure in their forward pack, playing 16 games. But he has managed just the six appearances in an ultra-competitive Dolphins squad this year and will instead bolster Melbourne’s pack as last year’s grand finalists make a late push towards the top eight.

Director of Football Frank Ponissi said the club was “delighted” to have Keeley on deck ahead of the Round 18 bye.

“He’s a quality young player and having him arrive earlier than expected is a great outcome for both the club and Oryn,” Ponissi added.

“We thank the Dolphins for working with us to facilitate his early release and look forward to welcoming Oryn and his partner Cloe to Melbourne.”

The Dolphins also confirmed Keeley’s immediate departure in a statement, thanking him for his contribution to the club.

Keeley could be just the first of several players to switch clubs before the June 30 deadline, with the Warriors expected to nab Luke Laulilii from the Tigers.
