Eala rises to 44th in WTA live rankings after reaching Miami Open 4th round

MANILA, Philippines — Regaining 120 points after advancing to the Miami Open fourth round, Alex Eala leaped from 48th to 44th in the WTA live rankings Sunday morning.

The Filipino tennis ace entered the third round after dropping Polish Magda Linette, 6-3, 7-6 (2), in their round of 32 clash, raising her total ranking points to 1255.

Ranked No. 29 in the official rankings, Eala needs two more wins to regain the full 390 points she gained from her semifinal finish last year.

The 20-year-old takes on world No. 14 and 13th seed Karolina Muchova of Czech Republic in the fourth round on Monday.
