The Reds are reportedly Mateus Fernandes' first pick this summer. The Portuguese is poised to depart West Ham United as the London outfit look to generate revenue following their drop from the Premier League, according to The i.

Fernandes, who was snapped up by the Hammers for £42million from Southampton in 2025, is anticipated to command a fee of around £60m. Paris Saint-Germain have also been mooted as potential suitors, but United are reportedly optimistic about leading the chase.

The 21-year-old earned his first senior international cap in the spring during a friendly against the United States, replacing United captain Bruno Fernandes off the bench. However, he was overlooked for Roberto Martinez's World Cup squad.

Manchester United have ruled out another loan move to Barcelona for Marcus Rashford after the forward spent the 2025/26 season at the Camp Nou, according to former scout Mick Brown.

Barca have a £26million option to buy Rashford but the Catalan side are trying to get him "on the cheap", according to Brown, and hope United buckle amid the player's desire to move back to Spain.

"Barcelona have been trying to get Rashford on the cheap," Brown told Football Insider. "From Man United's point of view, £26million is already cheap, but they want to either lower that price or sign him on another loan deal.

"That's not going to work, so as things stand, that deal is off because Barcelona won't come up with the money that United are asking for. It's even more frustrating for the club seeing them go out and spend on Anthony Gordon, because the money has obviously been there for them to spend.

"In hindsight, Man United should have included an obligation to buy rather than an option, but that isn't the case so they've gone right back to square one.

"It will be a test of their strength in negotiations, because they're planning to stick to their price tag and then see who moves first, with Rashford now set to return."

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez replied "for me, sure" when asked if Aurelien Tchouameni will remain at the Bernabeu next season. United will sign a Casemiro replacement this summer, and Tchouameni is viewed as a dream signing at Old Trafford.

Tchouameni, 26, has contributed to huge Champions League wins during his time with Madrid and came close to winning the World Cup with France.

Tchouameni's recent fallout with Federico Valverde during a training session, which resulted in both players being fined €500,000 by Madrid, had the potential to increase United's chances of signing the Frenchman.

However, Madrid president Perez has said that both players will remain in the Spanish capital.

United spent more than £200million last summer and they will at least match that this year, with the hope that the new additions will make as big an impact as Senne Lammens, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

The three new forwards all contributed, but it was Lammens who really set the standard. At £18.2million, he was a bargain and a feather in the cap of United's recruitment team, who resisted Ruben Amorim's desire to sign the more experienced Emiliano Martinez.

Lammens could be Old Trafford No. 1 for a decade and now he has won the Premier League Transfer of the Season award. Fully deserved for the quality of his performances. How United would love to unearth another gem like that this summer.

Fenerbahce presidential candidate Hakan Safi has ruled OUT a move for Manchester United target Rafael Leao this summer, after the forward confirmed he would be leaving AC Milan.

The Turkish side are among a whole number of clubs that have been linked with a move for Leao, 26, after he expressed his desire to quit Milan during the summer transfer window.

But Safi has confirmed Fener won't be making a move for Leao, after a meeting with him last week. "I met Leao a few days ago, but after 10 minutes of chatting, I realised he won't be our hitman," said Safi during a press conference. "How did I realise that? Because we asked, we looked into it."

Bayern Munich have emerged as a frontrunner to sign Marcus Rashford, according to The Sun. The Manchester United forward spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Barcelona and impressed, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

While Barca have a £26million option to buy Rashford, the Catalan side are toying whether to trigger the permanent clause in his contract and that has opened the door for others to enter the race. And Bayern are among those who are interested in Rashford after missing out on Anthony Gordon, who has made the £69m move to Barca.

The £38million signing of Ederson will be a good start to the summer for United and he will be the first of at least two, and probably three new midfielders arriving at Old Trafford.

That position has been earmarked for an overhaul and Ederson will add depth to the squad, although he is unlikely to slot into the team as Casemiro's replacement.

United officials have been talking for months of the need to sign an elite-level No. 6, but the identity of that man remains unclear, with so many questions about top targets.

Elliot Anderson looks likely to sign for Manchester City, and there is no sign that Aurelien Tchouameni is ready to leave Real Madrid. Interest in Sandro Tonali has cooled and United won't match Brighton's demands for Carlos Baleba. That leaves more questions than answers around the biggest recruitment priority of the summer.

Manchester United could be handed a financial boost after an update on Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Chelsea. United sold Garnacho to the Londoners late last summer in a deal worth £40million, after the Argentina international expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford.

Since then, Garnacho has scored just eight goals for Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge, with just one of those coming in the Premier League, and his future in the capital is now uncertain following his debut campaign.

As a result, there is continued speculation about what the future could hold for Garnacho as the summer transfer window approaches.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are now open to letting Garnacho leave the club this summer on a permanent deal, just 12 months after he left United to make a move to the London club.

United will be watching developments on Garnacho’s future closely, given they will receive a financial windfall if the forward goes on to leave Chelsea this summer.

As part of the £40million deal that United agreed with Chelsea last year, a 10 per cent sell-on clause was also included in the move.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Rafael Leao's intention was to attract as many suitors and offers as possible, adding that he wants to compete at the highest level of European football.

Leao announced on Saturday that he will LEAVE AC Milan after seven years this summer, with the 26-year-old long linked with a move to Manchester United.

And it's claimed Leao is keen to join United with the forward making a move to Old Trafford a 'priority', though the Reds might have to fork out at least £60million to sign him from Milan.
