Alex Eala confirms if she ever plans to compete in Singapore again after losing her only match at this year’s tournament

Alex Eala is yet to win a main draw match at the Singapore Tennis Open.

Eala was making her main draw debut in Singapore as the third seed, with the Filipina having a big opportunity ahead of her after the withdrawal of Amanda Anisimova.

Despite this, it was an opening match defeat for Eala, who was beaten by Tatiana Prozorova 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, having been a set and a break up.

Following her disappointing defeat to the world number 180, Eala has addressed her loyal fanbase and revealed if she ever plans to return to Singapore.

Alex Eala sends message to her fans after Singapore defeat

Eala spoke to Blast TV after her defeat to Prozorova, where she was asked if she had anything she wanted to say to her fans.

It was clear that Eala was disappointed with the outcome of her match, but she still had a lot of positive things to say to her fans, as she spoke about how grateful she was to receive so much support.

Eala also stated that this would not be the last time she would play in front of her fans in Singapore.

"I guess I want to thank everybody for coming out and I hope you guys had fun and I hope you guys enjoyed the tennis," said Eala.

"I really wish that I could have gone further, but this won't be the last time that I'll be here in Singapore, this won't be the last time that I get to play in front of you guys. So I'm really, really grateful to have been given another opportunity to have done what I love in front of the people that I love. So, thank you guys."

What is next for Alex Eala after Singapore disappointment?

Eala will have little time to reflect on her defeat to Prozorova, with a busy upcoming schedule for tournaments in Asia.

Many WTA players will now be heading to Beijing for the China Open, but Eala will not be joining them. Instead, Eala is risking punishment by playing the Asian Games, where she will hope to win a gold medal for the Philippines.

Tennis at the 2026 Asian Games, which are taking place in Nagoya, Japan, is taking place between the 27th September and 3rd October.

Eala will then return to the WTA Tour at the Wuhan Open, another tournament where she has never won a main draw match before.

With just 110 points to defend until 2027, it is a big opportunity for Eala to continue building on her current career-high ranking of world number 18. Eala is also entered into tournaments in Ningbo and Hong Kong.
