Noni Madueke made one of the most controversial transfers of the summer when he swapped Chelsea for Arsenal.

The winger arrived at the Emirates Stadium with plenty of pressure on his shoulders after struggling for consistency at Stamford Bridge. The fact that he was once a part of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy made it even more controversial.

However, Madueke had zero doubts in his mind when he made the move because he realised one thing – Arsenal are better placed for success.

Who is Arsenal’s fastest player right now – Gabriel Martinelli or Noni Madueke?

Noni Madueke says he left Chelsea and joined Arsenal to win trophies

Noni Madueke’s move to Arsenal surprised a lot of people at the time.

Chelsea had invested heavily in the winger and still believed there was huge potential inside him despite his inconsistent performances.

However, Arsenal were convinced that Madueke’s profile suited the way Mikel Arteta wants his side to play.

The winger has shown flashes of brilliance since arriving at the Emirates, especially in one-v-one situations where he can be devastating.

Now, Madueke has explained that his decision to leave Chelsea was heavily influenced by Arsenal’s ambition and direction as a club.

When asked what the deciding factor was behind his move, the Arsenal attacker gave a very blunt response.

Madueke said on Sky Sports: “I just believed that we were going to win. I believed we were going to win trophies. That’s why I moved.”

That statement says everything about how highly players now view Arteta’s Arsenal project.

Arsenal are on another level compared to Chelsea

Madueke’s comments look fully justified when comparing where both clubs currently are.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League table and are also preparing for a Champions League final against PSG. Chelsea, meanwhile, are enduring a miserable season.

The Blues are sitting ninth in the league, are out of every cup competition and have won just two of their last 10 matches in all competitions. Even worse, Chelsea have now lost six consecutive league games.

Right now, Arsenal look like one of the best teams in world football, while Chelsea still appear miles away from competing at the very top again.

That is why players prefer the Gunners over the Blues right now.
