The countdown has begun for Manchester United eagerly anticipating next season's new kit with the club embracing a return to the Champions League stage. The Red Devils' have now provided a teaser of the new home kit for the 2026/27 season with many looking forward to the club's return to European football.

After finishing 15th and missing out on winning the Europa League trophy last season, United began the career with no European competition for the first time in 11 years but have since guaranteed their spot in next season's Champions League campaign under Michael Carrick's guidance.

It now means that the new kit will not only have the Premier League emblem on the side but also the Champions League logo with the number three on it - highlighting United's number of times they have lifted the iconic trophy. A return to Europe's top-tier competition is exactly what is needed after exiting the League Cup and FA Cup earlier on with no chance of silverware this season.

And United's marketing department have been very busy and have on the official date with fans now marking it on their calendars. Fans will get to see what the shirt will be before the season concludes with the launch date confirmed as Thursday, May 14 at 9am.

The club have confirmed that the new kit will be worn on three matchdays this season. The women's side will debut the shirt when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their final WSL fixture of the season.

While Carrick's side will sport the shirt when they entertain Nottingham Forest and also in the final game of the season at Brighton.

The speculation as to what the kit will look like has been building with rumoured leaked images of the Adidas kit on social media with many fans noticing a return to the classic collared design by Admiral in the 1970s.

Fans have naturally reacted to the news that they are just days away from seeing the new kit on Thursday.

One fan took to X and said: "Looking forward to getting back to ucl [UEFA Champions League] swagger".

However, there are some fans who are pessimistic ahead of the new release with some criticising the time and others waiting for who the club will bring in over the summer transfer window.

One supporter said: "Not [a] big fan of new jersey reveal before current season end."

Another said: "Lets wait. With summer recruitment let's decide to buy new jersey or not. Our hard earned money shouldn't go waste. It'd be embarrassing if we buy these jerseys and our team not winning coz of lack of ambition from the club"
