The summer window is getting very busy as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham all continue to chase some major signings. Arsenal may have been offered new hope in their ambitious pursuit of Vinicius Jr, though Real Madrid do not want to sell. The Gunners appear to have finally made a breakthrough over Bruno Guimaraes and have reportedly opened talks over Ivan Fresneda as they close in on another wonderkid in Axel Donczew, with Julian Alvarez also still on their radar.

Chelsea are closing in on the shock signings of Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson, with the former due to undergo a medical this week. Bradley Barcola is said to have verbally agreed to join Liverpool though Paris Saint-Germain are not hijacking Real Madrid over Yan Diomande, while Manchester United chase a third midfielder transfer as they eye the likes of Manu Kone, Aurelien Tchouameni and Carlos Baleba. They have also entered the race for Iliman Ndiaye at Everton.

Man City's Phillips set for second Blades loan

Manchester City’s forgotten man Kalvin Phillips, 30, is set for another loan move to Sheffield United.

Phillips made only three appearances for Wilder’s side in his six-month loan spell, but Wilder wants to give the former Leeds man another try.

After moving from his boyhood side to Man City in 2022 for £42m, the 31-cap England international has endured a torrid time.

Then-manager Pep Guardiola said Phillips was “overweight” on his return from the 2022 World Cup - comments which the Spaniard later apologised for.

The deep-lying midfielder never seemed a good fit for City: he has made just 32 appearances in his time there and still has two years left on his contract.

Man United prefer Kone & Baleba

Manchester United’s quest for midfield reinforcements has brought them to France’s Manu Kone and Brighton man Carlos Baleba.

The two are the Red Devils’ preferred options, report the i Paper Sport, after missing out on Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham and being priced out of a move for Aurelien Tchouameni.

Kone, 25, was a mainstay for Les Bleus at the World Cup - partnering Tchouameni - while Baleba, 22, has been the subject of longstanding interest from United.

FA issues strong response to Infantino World Cup plans

The FA have said they are “deeply concerned” by Gianni Infantino’s proposal to establish a private company to run FIFA competitions.

This follows on from rumours UEFA and its 55 member nations will consider a boycott of the next World Cup and PM Andy Burnham said “the World Cup is not a product.”

The FA also stated: “We were completely unaware of this proposal and have no substantive details, including what the proposition actually is, and what conditions are attached.”

“Based on the limited information, we are deeply concerned about the lack of process and governance to get to this point, and the apparent substance and principles involved.”

Brentford look for Henderson replacement

Amid Jordan Henderson’s rumoured move from Brentford to Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea, Sky Sports report Bees want to replace the 36-year-old with Lens man Mamadou Sangare.

The Blues are adding experience to their ranks, with Brighton forward Danny Welbeck, 35, also on the brink of a move to Stamford Bridge.

Lens’ Sangare, 24, is a Mali international and joined the French side last summer for £6.9m (€8m) from Rapid Vienna.

He made 29 league appearances, starting 27, scoring three and assisting four goals and helped Lens win the French cup.

Real Madrid approach Man City for Rodri

A huge new update now on the Rodri to Real Madrid front.

Los Blancos appear determined to pull off a blockbuster move for Manchester City’s Ballon d’Or and World Cup Golden Ball winner, despite confirmation yesterday that he had undergone a back procedure.

Fabrizio Romano reports this morning that Real Madrid have now made their first approach to City for Rodri and indicated that they are willing to pay in excess of €50m for his signature.

He says Madrid president Florentino Perez has personally approved the deal.

Fulham make moves for Real Madrid duo

Fulham have made a move for Real Madrid youngster Cesar Palacios.

The Cottagers have been linked with a whole host of Los Blancos players since appointing Alvaro Arbeloa as their new manager earlier this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, they have now begun talks with Madrid over the structure of a transfer for 21-year-old midfielder Palacios.

Fulham are also said to be waiting for Jose Mourinho’s response to their swoop for forward Gonzalo Garcia.

Man Utd enter race for £70m Iliman Ndiaye

Manchester United appear to have entered the race for Iliman Ndiaye.

The Senegal winger is in demand following a fine season at Everton, having been strongly linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal.

However, United are also now in the running for Ndiaye, according to the Daily Mirror.

They will need to pay £70m to get him.

Chelsea agree Danny Welbeck transfer

Danny Welbeck to Chelsea has now been given the “here we go” treatment by Fabrizio Romano.

He says a medical is imminent after Welbeck agreed a two-year contract at Stamford Bridge that will run until the summer of 2028.

Welbeck apparently asked Brighton to allow him to make the switch to Chelsea, who will hope to welcome him on their pre-season trip to Hong Kong later this week.

Tottenham step up Savinho chase after transfer request

Tottenham are working hard to complete a deal for long-term transfer target Savinho.

It was reported yesterday that the Brazilian winger had informed Manchester City of his desire to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer in search of more regular starts.

That has inevitably led to Spurs ramping up their pursuit of Savinho, who could be available for around £60m.
