Pakistan’s Zohaib and Amir finish runners-up at ITF Junior in Kyrgyzstan

LAHORE - Pakistan’s promising young tennis players Zohaib Afzal Malik and Amir Mazari delivered an impressive performance at the ITF Junior Tournament in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, finishing runners-up after a spirited campaign that showcased their resilience and potential on the international stage.

The Pakistani duo battled their way to the doubles final with a series of determined performances, overcoming strong opposition in a highly competitive field. Remarkably, every match on their route to the title clash went the distance, with Zohaib (SA Group) and Amir (SNGPL) prevailing in hard-fought three-set encounters to secure a place in the championship match. In the final, the pair fought back brilliantly after dropping the opening set before eventually going down 1-6, 6-3, 8-10 to an Israeli combination in a thrilling match that lasted until the deciding match tie-break. The tournament featured talented junior players from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Russia, Mongolia, Israel and several other countries, providing valuable international exposure for the emerging Pakistani stars. Zohaib, who represents SA Group and studies at LGS DHA Phase V, credited his progress to the great support of his sponsors. He thanked SA Group for backing his professional tennis career and expressed gratitude to ACE Tennis Academy and its founder, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, for their expert coaching, guidance and continued encouragement.
