Black Caps: Rachin Ravindra dislocates shoulder in freak accident during Sky shoot

“We’re gutted for Rachin and our key priority is making sure he recovers well and gets back on the field as soon as he can.

“As with all commercial shoots involving our players, the activities were agreed in advance by all parties, with appropriate safety measures in place.

“It was a bit of a freak accident, and we’ll continue to review our processes around events like this in the future.”

Black Caps coach Rob Walter said the allrounder’s fitness was the priority.

“With a heavy schedule of test cricket in the next six months, we don’t want to rush Rachin back sooner than we need to,” Walter said.

“He’s in great hands in terms of his rehab and we look forward to welcoming him back soon.”

The Black Caps have a packed summer schedule, starting in October with their T20I series against India, swiftly followed by a five-match ODI series against the South Asian nation in November.

The countries then face each other in two test matches starting on November 19 at Wellington’s Basin Reserve and later at Hagley Oval on November 27.

Bangladesh then travel down to New Zealand for a T20I and ODI series, followed by Sri Lanka playing three ODIs, three T20Is and two tests to round the summer out.
