7 Victory over Grambling State in Home Opener

FORT WORTH – In the first home game of 2026, the TCU football team rolled to a 63-7 victory over Grambling State on a scorching Saturday night at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

Quarterback Jaden Craig controlled the game, throwing for 391 yards and four touchdowns with a 77% completion percentage. He found seven receivers, with Kari Ashley leading the way with 119 yards and two scores, both career highs.

On the ground, TCU had eight different rushers total 285 yards on 37 carries. Leading the way was Jeremy Payne with 70 yards on nine attempts, and Craig was right behind him with 53 yards on eight rushes.

Defensively, the Horned Frogs stymied the Tigers' offense, holding them to 210 yards and just 20 yards on the ground. A host of defensive players got involved in the action, with 13 Frogs recording multiple tackles.

TCU opened up the game by waltzing down the field and ending their opening drive with a Major Everhart rush to open up the scoring.

Both teams would have scoring threats in the first, with TCU blocking a GSU chip-shot field goal and the Tigers forcing running back Jeremy Payne to fumble into the end zone, keeping the score at 7-0 after one.

The Frogs' offense found some footing in the second quarter, finding the end zone three times to extend the lead at half to 28-7.

From there, the Horned Frogs continued rolling by tacking on two touchdowns in the third to put the game out of reach.

To add to the final total, TCU would score three fourth quarter touchdowns to post its highest point total since 2017.

TCU has scored in 422 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in NCAA history behind Florida (474) … Kickoff temperature was 100 degrees, the hottest recorded game in Amon G.
