Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Mark Addo, has eulogised the Black Princesses following their remarkable qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Ghana U-20 women’s team held Uganda to a 1-1 draw in Kampala at the weekend to secure a place at the global tournament to be staged in Poland.

In the first leg, the Black Princesses had secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Uganda at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This achievement marks the Black Princesses’ eighth consecutive qualification to the World Cup, further underlining their rise in women’s football on the global stage.

Speaking after qualification, Vice President Addo praised the team for their consistency and resilience, noting that Ghana’s sustained presence at youth level reflects years of structured development.

“What this team has achieved is no small feat. When the odds were against you a goal down and a player sent off your resilience and hard work delivered the result that secured World Cup qualification,” he said.

“Take time to enjoy this moment for a few days, but the real work begins now ahead of September when the World Cup starts,” he added.

“On behalf of President Kurt Okraku, the Executive Council, and the entire nation, we are proud of you. Congratulations on this historic achievement,” he concluded.

The Black Princesses’ qualification once again underlines Ghana’s strong presence in youth women’s football, with the team now turning focus toward preparation camps, tactical refinement, and international friendlies ahead of the tournament.

The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Poland from September 5-27, 2026.
